My brother ‪@TheIanBlackwood‬ and I just dropped the next chapter of Villain Heart x Ian Blackwood.
We took a massive swing to prove that you don’t need $10,000 in gear to make a record. We spent the last few months pushing a beginner guitar and a beginner drum kit from ‪@Donnermusic_Official‬ to their absolute limit.
To keep it as real as possible, I tracked all the guitar tones using the FREE version of the ‪@ikmultimedia‬ ToneX plugin. No expensive tube amps, just a $100 guitar and a computer.
The journey was a total roller coaster, but the song "A Lifetime Ago" is officially out now on all streaming platforms!
The best part? The gear has already found a new home. I was able to donate the guitar to Harmonized Rocks to help kids in our community get free music education and start their own journey.
This was easily my most ambitious project yet. I wanted to see if the gear really matters, or if it’s all about the song. So, I challenged myself to write, record, and release a professional track using only beginner instruments.
From hunting for gear at Toys R Us to shipping drums across the country, this journey was wild. The best part? The guitar from this video is now heading to a non-profit to help the next generation of musicians.

Just finished the busiest time of my creator career. I have the best videos dropping in the next couple weeks. I can’t wait for you to see them. To celebrate I get to bust out gear I have not used in a while.
Same YouTube mastermind — shout out to Nolan Matthias — that’s where Blake and I connected.
On this episode, Blake and I met in person for the first time, and ended up having an unreal conversation.
Blake, thanks for hosting me. Sky’s the limit for this pod, and I’m genuinely grateful to be a guest on it. This feels like the beginning of a great friendship.
For the past 3 years I have made over 100 Youtube videos in my "studio". This week I highlight where it is in my house and once you see it I hope it inspires you to create your art even if you don't have a perfect space. Happy New Year and here's to an amazing 2026. LFG.Â

Funny thing about gear…
The more choices I gave myself, the less music I made.
This is the same pedalboard I used in 2025, and it helped me release more music than ever.

I’ve been using this thing for years — through studio changes, different rigs, and even a full year without its amp models.
In this video, I walk through why I downsized, why I tried something else, why the HX Stomp never left my rig, and how it actually holds up today.
If you own one, or you’re thinking about buying one in 2026,
I hope this helps you decide what makes sense for you.
