Authorities in Iraq have launched one of the country's biggest anti-corruption operations, arresting at least 67 officials over allegations of financial misconduct. The investigation is aimed at uncovering large-scale corruption and recovering illegally acquired assets.
During the raids, investigators reportedly seized around 70 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately US$53.4 million) in cash. At the home of Iraqi MP Aliya Nasif, officials also reported finding gold-colored lingerie, including a bra and panties, along with other valuable items.
The case has drawn widespread attention because of the enormous amount of cash recovered and the unusual luxury items found during the searches. It has intensified public debate over corruption, misuse of public funds, and the wealth accumulated by some political figures.
