If you're into Harmonix GH quirks/jank, this run showcases a very neat and difficult (especially for how late in the song it is, frame perfect with potentially other stipulations) exploit in GH2 Co-op (~2:30). This has been shown off before in concept but from what I can tell not in any kind of intentional way for a high score/1st place run.
Don't usually TAS full songs out, but wanted to test acts 2, 3, 4, and 5 on this so just decided to see it through since it's painless enough. Turns out 4th act UB is possible, but even more interestingly I found an adjustment to act 2 that yields ~150 (on BO chord before path act).
Unfortunately both of these were frame perfect with multiple whammies, so I highly doubt 318k will happen (act 2 is more feasible imo since all whammies are continuous and there's only 3 compared to 4th act's 5), but just thought it was worth sharing some findings with visual proof for a change (didn't record the TAS work but would never invest the time to edit around it anyway, even roughly), particularly after posting a new record of it yesterday.
I hoped to maybe find some tick adjustment on act 3 to at least make 317.9k feasible, but didn't find anything with many adjustments. There's almost certainly another frame of ticks (likely 8 points) on last act with favorable chart/framerate sync for true optimal. This is another reason I hope WR scores have video proof going forward aside from lag offset since I could easily see someone using something like this (further edited of course) as "proof" lol.
Looking for some feedback here. This score took around 15 hours to get, easily one of, if not the hardest 1st I've gone for. Here's the problem, the top score on SH (424,022) has no proof attached whatsoever, not even a broken pic link. This score is 76 above Smoky's in 2nd, and the top score (Lemon) was posted around an hour after Smoky's and is exactly 100 higher, adding to the suspicion imo (timing could've been a "league" event, whatever those were). I know Lemon was good, but that didn't stop many (including myself) from reporting falsities at the time.
I really don't want to keep grinding this song that is, no pun intended, driving me insane against a score that very well may not have happened. I'd appreciate some responses on how these scores (FTK is the other similar situation) could/should be handled on SH, or how they have been if this is something that's already happened in other titles. Otherwise, if someone, somehow could find any shred of proof Lemon's score existed I'd be interested as well.
I know this is kind of awkward and "unimportant", but it just seems unfair imo to not consider this 1st all things considered. Don't get me wrong, Lemon's score is totally doable and I may even be interested in 424 in the future regardless, but that isn't really the point.
Genuinely not grinding for this again, I was just trying to experiment with the solo act to prevent reverse ticks. Got a (admittedly surprising) x66 (optimal) 2nd act, then just said "oh well let's see where this goes". Still getting solo reverse ticks, 8 this run to be exact but also got 4 on the back end, so 12 total (x82), not bad. Optimal(?) 4th act (76), somehow held it together until the end even with it being completely unexpected, which I guess I should be proud of just how far I've come with the song in general (particularly the bridge).
This is the best pace I've ever had, and tied with the best pace ever in general. I may very well never see a pace like this again unless I learn proper solo act timing and get lucky with whammy. My heart sunk like a stone when I saw that yellow flame, the worst part being that I actually had a pretty good front end that I felt like (even during the run) could've pulled it off. Wasn't recording since I had no intention of actually doing/finishing runs, but I don't think I'll post another vid of this anyway unless I get some bonkers score (at least 850) or I retake 1st and want proper documentation.
