National SCI FI Day
When it comes to fiction writing, the stories are only limited by one’s imagination. And no matter what type of fiction stories you like, chances are a few of them involve some sort of science fiction topics. If so, National Science Fiction Day on January 2 is the perfect day to celebrate this type of story. For all the sci-fi fans out there you can expand your future in science by discovering science and technology scholarships on Scholaroo.
Science fiction touches so many different areas of literature that most people can find one area that they love. Science fiction can include stories based in space with aliens like E.T. or space battles like Star Wars. The genre also can include time travel, such as H. G. Wells famous book, The Time Machine, or the Doctor Who franchise. Even super hero movies can involve science fiction. After all, who would believe a talking raccoon as in Guardians of the Galaxy or the rock-like skin of the Thing in the Fantastic Four without the science fiction angle?
So if you’re fascinated by the unknown and by the possibilities of what science can bring in the future, you probably would be – or already are – a fan of science fiction. And that’s why National Science Fiction Day is the perfect day to celebrate all of these different books, movies, and television shows. You may not love sci-fi enough to consume its stories every day, but this special day is a great opportunity to spark your imagination!

And as a new year's gift, here is TAG
@TheArcaneLibrary, #shadowdark
TAG (level 4)
Real Name: Emily Maddox
Alises: Party Girl, Julie Strum, Poka, Nurse Maddox
First Appearance: Project Prometheus (unnamed) Issue # 1
Fresno Comics Christmas Special 12 Days of “Tagmas” (as Tag)
AC 16 HP 26 #AT 1 (Melee) 1d4 MV Near
S +0 D +2 C +1 I +1 W –1 Ch +3 AL C
ORIGIN STORY
Emily Maddox was working as a nurse as part of a medical drug trial, injecting volunteers with the compound and monitoring the results. One of the volunteers had suddenly become squeamish and argumentative about the injection. Impulsively, Emily told the patient that the drug was harmless and proved it by injecting herself.
Unfortunately, the company running the drug trial was Wetherford, and the drug in question was Promethium which Emily did not suffer any effects until a few hours later, when she suddenly got very sick and passed out in her apartment. She lay there in a fever dream as the Promethium altered her brain and DNA.
When she finally recovered, the first thing she said to herself was, “Thirsty, need a cup of water,” and a cup of water appeared in her hand.
She spent the rest of the day testing the limits of her newfound powers and how they could make her life better, weirder, but better.
While she gained a basic grasp of her abilities, she was not sure what she wanted to do about them. She was not motivated enough to put on a mask and become a superhero or supervillain. Still, she was curious about the origins of the compound that gave her these powers and what it was doing to the other test subjects.
With no real plan she broke into the Lab where the test was being conducted dressed as Sherlock Holmes
Thus began the adventures of Tag.
Tag is neither a hero nor a villain, though she holds the record for the most time spent charged with Criminal Mischief.
Rather, Tag is best characterized as an antihero, as her actions are often as helpful as they are harmful. As she has said herself, when she sets out to do something, she never has a plan—just ideas—and sometimes those ideas end up in explosions!
For example, on Free Donut Day, when Tag decided to get free donuts for all the children in the orphanage, she robbed every donut shop she could find of its entire stock so she could deliver them to the children. Was this a crime? Technically. Was anyone hurt? Not really—but she did cause $320,000.00 in property damage. Did Tag consider the potential consequences of her grandiose exploits? Nope!
Tag seems to have the ability to open portals into the dimension known as “Hammerspace”).
Once she opens the portal, she reaches in and pulls out what she is looking for. She must be very specific about the object she is trying to find; otherwise, the results may be random. For example, if she needs something to tell time and is not specific, she could pull out a watch, an egg timer, or a grandfather clock.
She cannot summon anything Living (but she can summon food) and the size of the objects seem to be limited to what she could hold in two hands; she could pull out a beach chair but not a couch.
One summoned the objects remain for about an hour before vanishing back to wherever they came from.
There are two ideas as to just how her power works. The scientific explanation is that it has to do with Multiversal theory and Tags ability to barrow things from her counterparts in other timelines.
The nonscientific explanation is that Tag is magic, and you should not worry about her powers.
PERSONALITY
On the surface our pink haired protagonist is a bubbling ball of chaos and perky whimsy. Tag does not plan; she just does things. The world is her playground and damn the consequences should anything get in the way of her latest scheme.
But don’t let that fool you, underneath all that chaos is a very clever mind, who was top of her class at nursing school, even at her most Zanny it does not mean you should underestimate her ability to adapt.
Catch Phrase. ” Tag, your it” or “But it was on fire when I got here!
GEAR
Kevlar vest, first aid kit, cell phone, extensive wardrobe. If Tag needs something she just pulls it out of Hammerspace.
APPERANCE
Emily Maddox is a 24-year-old female with blue eyes, freckles, and red hair (dyed one or more shades of pink) Tag maintains an extensive wardrobe of themed costumes and dresses based on her activities of the day. If robbing the fish market she will dress up like a pirate, on Free Donut Day she dressed as a baker and on Halloween she dresses as a witch.
POWERS
Hammerspace. As stated, above Tag can withdraw nonliving objects from “Hammerspace”. Ther does not seem to be a limit as to what she can pull out other then it cannot be alive, and it seemingly can only be somethings he can carry in two hands.
Crash any Party. Strange things tend to happen around Tag perhaps as a side effect of her main power. These events are never truly helpful or harmful, just weird. Like all the times her Name was on the guest list or that time a bird brought her a sandwich.
ALIES AND ENMIES
Tag has pissed off a LOT of people, but she has also endeared herself to many people in the city including hospitals, orphanages and women’s shelters.
One reporter said Tag was not a threat, something he regret to this day.
