Sweet Blue likes to decorate his face with tamarack needles, while his mate Chloe prefers to floof out her belly feathers, making it look as though she is wearing a dress. Both are cute, but I think Chloe looks ready for a ball. 😅 Did you know Blue Jays fluff up their feathers not only to trap warm air, but also when they’re feeling relaxed or comfortable?
In this picture, Chloe is all fluffed up ---her way of showing she feels safe around me… and also her way of saying, ‘Yes, I’d love a peanut or almond, please.’ 💙🐦 Which, of course, I’m more than happy to oblige.

Ada's got the look!! There's a strength in this little Black-capped chickadee that I can't quite explain. AI's got nothing on this Boreal Chickadee I named, Speckle. Just look at those big, bright eyes, the cozy, earthy tones, and the splash of white on his forehead and near his eye (the markings that inspired his name. Such a tiny gem, and I feel so lucky to photograph him...well, when he sits still long enough 😅🐦
