Hi Everyone, Hope you are all having a lovely December and aren't feeling too frazzled!!
Sorry I have been pretty quiet here the last few months but I am making plans to come back with regular videos really soon - the overthinking monster got me!
But I have been really busy growing our amazing FREE sewing community over on ThreadySetGo.com which has been so lovely. I am loving getting to know you all there and so excited for it to keep growing in 2026.
If you aren't a fan of social media or you're setting yourself a goal in the New Year to spend less time scrolling and more time sewing whilst being part of an actual community then check out what we are doing over at ThreadySetGo.com, it's pretty special!
What an amazing line up of guests I have joining me in Novembers end of the month Pattern Club live event! Join me live online as I chat with Heather Lou from Closet Core, Caz who won this years Great British Sewing Bee and Georgie from Hey Sew Sister. If you want you can also sew up this months featured pattern - the Closet Core Nicks Dress and Top and give us a twirl in the event! There'll be plenty of opportunity to ask our guests your own burning sewing questions too! Sign up to ThreadySetGo.com now and save your seat.
About to film a video on my top patterns for party season - yes we really are there already! I'd love to know what is your number one party dress pattern?
There's still time to grab your spot for tomorrow evenings live event at ThreadySetGo - join me as I chat with Emma, Jenny and Louise. There'll be opportunities throughout the evening to ask the ladies your own questions and find out all about them!
Have you joined the free online sewing community at ThreadySetGo.com yet?
I am so bored of Meta dictating our lives, of algorithms keeping me doomscrolling and constantly chasing likes and views... it doesn't help me, my life or anymore... my business!
I want community, real connections with people who share my passion and joy for sewing. Somewhere free from AI and algorithms where we can actually discuss sewing plans, wins and woes, offer help and advice and share recommendations.
How about you?
If you feel the same way, if you are someone who enjoys sewing, you NEED to join ThreadySetGo - it's completely free to join!
Join me in Octobers Pattern Club where we will be chatting to bag pattern designer Emma from Studio 7t7 as well as the lovely Jenny from Jenny Stitches and Louise from Ethel and Joan on Tuesday 28th October at 7pm. You can also get some lovely discount codes from Emma and Jenny and have a go at making the Studio 7t7 Luna backpack. Find out all the details at ThreadySetGo.com/pattern-club
Have you seen this months Pattern Club I'm running at ThreadySetGo.com? We are sewing up the Sew Over It Lucy T-shirt and Dress, there's a lovely discount code when you register to join for the pattern, there are 8 video tutorials to help you sew up the perfect Lucy and on Wednesday 27th August at 7pm join me in our exclusive Live Event where I will be chatting with Rosie and Alma from Sew Over It along with Andrea from Beyond The Pink Door. You can be in the live audience and have the chance to ask the guests your burning sewing questions!
Tell me something that you think is over- or under-rated in the sewing world! I’ll go first… using clips instead of pins - overrated!! I get it on heavier fabrics or bag making when there’s lots of layers. But on any other fabric they are horrible!
I asked you a couple of days ago what you do to get your "sewjo" back. The majority said organising and tidying their sewing space was the best way, followed by sewing an old faithful pattern. But only a small percent said sewing a new pattern or joining a sewing social. I agree sometimes that sewing a new pattern you haven't tested out before can be a bit daunting but when you add in the support and encouragement of a sewing group - that's when it starts to get good!
This month at ThreadySetGo.com we are sewing the S.O Sew Dressmaking Emily dress and top, there's support in the forum, you can pop into our regular virtual sewing socials to ask questions or share thoughts and of the best bit... our wrap up party at the end of the month where you can be "in the audience" as I chat to the designer and other special guests. Actually, that's not the best bit... because I forgot to mention that you can do all of this for as little as a £5 monthly membership! Take a look at my Emily dress in this video and let me know if you're going to join us and give it a go!
