Everyone’s talking about it so I will too since way too many people have been asking me questions about this 😭
YouTube is making it harder for NEW creators to get monetized, which I consider complete bs.
Monetization is already one of the biggest challenges most creators face, especially because YouTube doesn’t exactly do much to help smaller creators get there in the first place. My channel used to get 10-30 views until Zedel gave me that shoutout. That’s also why I’ve always tried to use my platform to promote other creators, even if that wasn’t always objectively the best idea for me lol.
The OTHER issue is channels getting demonetized.
From most of the channels I’ve personally seen getting hit, they usually fall somewhere into these categories:
1. Repetitive formats like “TOP GLOBAL ____ #1 GAMEPLAY” where every upload is basically the same video with a different hero/game.
2. AI voiceovers where the voice has almost nothing to do with what’s actually happening in the video. This obviously doesn’t include people using AI voices while actually discussing what the title/video is about.
3. Mass produced, low effort content with very little creativity or actual value added.
Basically, YouTube seems to be trying to get rid of content that feels like it could be produced 50 times over by changing a few words and pressing upload.
And I actually SUPPORT that part.
There’s an insane amount of slop on YouTube now. Some creators put days into one video just for someone else to pump out 10 AI generated videos, reposted Shorts, or the exact same gameplay format and potentially get more recognition for it.
As someone who tries putting my own ideas, opinions and creativity into the majority of my videos, I understand why YouTube wants to cut down on that, I support it cuz I wish my own content could gain more traction too. Seeing 0 effort videos gap mine is always demotivating but I just call it a skill issue and work harder 🤝
What I DON’T support is legitimate creators getting caught in the crossfire.
If someone is making authentic/original content and still gets demonetized, YouTube should give them an ACTUAL detailed explanation of what they did wrong and a proper way to fight it.
Some creators literally live off this.
YouTube makes up around 20-30% of my own income and even THAT is a massive difference for me. I can’t imagine waking up one day and losing monetization when your channel is your main source of income.
So no, I don’t think every CC should panic.
If you actually make original videos and aren’t uploading the same braindead template over and over, I wouldn’t be sitting there thinking your channel is automatically cooked.
But if authentic creators are getting demonetized despite NOT doing any of this, then that’s a completely separate problem and YouTube deserves criticism for it.
If you know anyone from the MLBB community who got demonetized while making genuinely original content similar to what most of us creators make, PLEASE tell me who.
