The World Present and Past

I'm Laura Youngblood. My Channel used to be called "From Laura's Perspective" and be a YouTube library of video essays on a variety of topics. But being too broad is an issue. So I decided to make this a channel about history, sociology, and the kind of stuff you might learn about in social studies. So I changed the channel's name to "The World Present and Past."

I have two other channels, one entitled "World of Spirituality" and another entitled "Online School of Pop Culture." The former is a channel all about the diverse religions and spiritualities of the world, with somewhat of an emphasis on my own religion of Christianity. The latter contains video essays on all things film, television, music, books, and theatre, which I used to post here. Click the links below to find those channels and check them out:

I have once again decided to change the name of my channel. "The Advocate Who's Autistic" was a bit misleading and didn't really reflect what the content on this channel was all about. This is a channel about history, sociology, and social justice issues, so I chose a title that reflects that a little better.

The World Present and Past

Since I had the day off, I finally took some initiative and did something I’ve been wanting to do for such a long time.
If you haven’t already figured it out from the pictures, I got 8 inches of hair cut 💇‍♀️ for a donation to Locks of Love.
I don’t know why, but I’ve been putting this off for so long, and today I finally took a chance and did it. Honestly, I have no regrets. Not only do I look great with my new ‘cut (not to sound vain), but I got out of the bondage of self by repurposing my cut hair for a child made vulnerable by medical hair loss.

The World Present and Past

Viewers and subscribers, listen up because I have a MAJOR announcement to make! Please read this whole post because all of it is very important!

-Beginning on Friday September 29, 2023, my channel's name will be changed to "The Autistic Advocate." This will reflect a change in my channel in which the niche will mostly revolve around issues of social justice and diversity, particularly autism and disabilities.
-If you came here more for the other topics I've posted video essays on, not to worry! Those will have two NEW channels entirely of their own.
-All of my video essays on music, movies, TV, books, and the theatre industry will be posted to a channel entitled "Online School of Pop Culture "
-I will also create a channel entitled "A World of Spirituality." On this channel, I will post essays on the topic of religion and spirituality. This will mostly consist of my own religion of Christianity, but will also explore religious and spiritual beliefs and practices around the world. This will include astrology and the zodiac, as well as content on gemstones, as those often have religious significance.
-As for my VLOGs? All of those will be posted here, on my original channel.
-I have chosen to do this since my original channel and it's content was too broad, and some wise advice I've recently gotten is that "when you try to reach everyone, you reach no one."
-Are you as excited as I am about this new direction to my channel? Are you just going to stay subscribed to the Autistic Advocate? Move to one of my other two channels? Or subscribe to all three? Let me know in the comments down below!
-Also, watch out for trailers and first content for my new channels and rebranded original channel!

As some of you may know: I have a Tik Tok and Instagram platform, both of which I made to be extensions of my channel. Tell me honestly subscribers, which, if either, do you follow me on?

The World Present and Past

Hello my lovely viewers and subscribers! It will be well over a week before you see a new video on my channel, as I will be away for the next week serving a family in need in Harlan County, Kentucky for my annual volunteer trip for the Appalachia Service Project.
You’ll get to see some snippets of how it went when I post my VLOG on it when I get back. You can also hear a little bit about it on my Instagram and Tik Tok. My Instagram handle is youngblood_on_insta, and my Tik Tok username is laura_youngblood_tik_tok. If you don’t already, I highly recommend you follow me on those platforms. Because both are extensions of my channel! Can’t wait to see you when I get back!

The World Present and Past

I'm a little late posting this, but my 24th birthday on Saturday turned out SO much better than I was expecting! I got to meet my good high school friend Sophia Christiana and her mother Maria V. Copetas at Wasabi. We had a delicious Hibachi-cooked dinner, complete with yum-yum sauce. As an unexpected surprise, my Grandma Valerie Youngblood and Aunts Carrianne Rose Heckathorn and Christine Youngblood were also there celebrating Aunt Carri’s birthday!
