HISTORY OF A COIN

Today’s digital age, when we make payments with just one click through UPI, it’s hard to imagine that there was a time when all transactions in India depended only on coins and notes.

But do you know when the first one rupee coin in India was made?

The story goes back to 19 August 1757, when the East India Company issued the first one rupee coin at the Kolkata Mint. This happened after the defeat of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah in the Battle of Plassey, which marked the Company’s control over Bengal.
This coin carried the image of British Emperor William IV. It was not just a medium of trade but also a symbol of power and authority.
The year 1757 was a turning point in Indian history. With the victory at Plassey, the East India Company gained dominance over Bengal. Soon after, the Company signed a treaty with the Nawab, which gave it the right to mint coins. Using this power, the first one rupee coin of India was issued on 19 August 1757—a symbol of both economic and political control.

No throne, no approval—just pure leadership. They rise, they inspire, and they move the world forward without demanding recognition.
Women are the invisible architects of change. They break barriers without fanfare, building futures while the world is busy looking elsewhere. As daughters, they question traditions. As sisters, they inspire dreams. As wives, they nurture and strengthen. As daughters-in-law, they unite generations. As mothers, they mold tomorrow’s leaders.True leadership isn’t a title—it’s influence. And no one influences the world more deeply than a woman.
Savitribai Phule—India’s first female teacher.
In a time when educating girls was dismissed as useless, she dared to defy the norm. She not only became a beacon of learning herself but opened the doors of India’s first school for girls. Savitribai didn’t ask for education—she claimed it, not just for herself, but for every girl who deserved a future. A daughter’s courage can rewrite the destiny of a nation.
From Rani Lakshmibai, who fought an empire with unmatched courage… to Indira Gandhi, India’s first woman Prime Minister who commanded a nation. From Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, who revolutionized biotechnology, to Kalpana Chawla, who touched the stars—women have proven that leadership has no limits.
History remembers Ahilyabai Holkar, the queen who turned Malwa into a beacon of culture, education, and prosperity. Trained in governance and strategy, she ruled not with fear—but with vision and compassion. And Maharani Gayatri Devi, who stepped beyond the palace walls, winning elections and dedicating her life to women’s empowerment—proving that tradition and progress can walk hand in hand.

Hyderabad and Secunderabad are called twin cities — but do you know why?

The most well-known twin cities in India are Hyderabad and Secunderabad. They are located in the state of Telangana and are often referred to together as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area. Historically, Secunderabad was established by the British as a cantonment area adjacent to Hyderabad. They are considered twin cities due to their close proximity, shared infrastructure, and intertwined development.
