Sherlock Holmes Stories Magpie Audio

Welcome. My name is Greg Wagland (aka Magpie Audio) and I recorded all the stories you will find on this channel. They are not available elsewhere currently. The copyright to these videos and audio recordings belong to me. This includes more than 50 Sherlock Holmes stories, which are all unabridged and narrated/read by me. That's right - it's not someone else's reused work - it's mine. This includes The Hound of the Baskervilles, A Study in Scarlet and A Sign of (the) Four. I've put captions on most of them.

All of the text in these stories are in the public domain, as is all the artwork (such as that by Sidney Paget). Production copyright vests in / belongs to Magpie Audio (aka Greg Wagland).

This is my retelling of famous public domain texts.

Cheers - Greg.

If you enjoyed my recent upload of 'The Parasite' by Arthur Conan Doyle, then The Beetle by Richard Marsh (in four parts) might also hit the spot. It's creepy and told from 4 different points of view.

You might also enjoy 'The Great Keinplatz Experiment', which is a more lighthearted approach to the 'Pseudo-Sciences'.

Hi Everyone
Hope you're settling into 2025.
I was going to publish a 1 hour 40 minute story on February 5th but the algorithm decided that I had used a musical track called Out There by Eric Dolphy. It's jazz from 1961. It belongs to the 600 lb marauding gorilla, UMG aka Universal Music Group. They were helpful enough to give me the timings of this heinous infraction on their property - about 5 and half minutes worth.
Of course I checked. I played the highlighted section from my story back and there is no sign of jazz, not a hint of music even, just me droning on without any accompaniment.
And now they get a month to consider whether I've stolen the mellow sounds of Eric Dolphy and will presumably come to the rational conclusion that his band and my voice are not one and the same. We'll see. I'm not all that hopeful.
Apparently UMG do this sort of thing all the time and run out the clock to the end of the month. Not quite sure why.
So maybe you'll get a story in March, if UMG is willing to release the claim on my tedious voice.
Thank heavens my USAID cheque arrived this month so at least I was able buy some luxury goods to take my mind off things. (Joke)

So if you want a listen to the rather marvellous Eric Dolphy and his band playing on Swedish TV in the 60s you can compare and contrast his jazz stylings with my speaking voice.

Keep working on the algorithm, or maybe start working on it. Whatevs.

So the powers that be at YouTube have reinstated monetisation on the video that mentioned aromatic firewood. So that's some kind of a result but really it should never have happened in the first place.

Come to think of it, any mention of firewood will probably be banned in the next year or two.

The fun continues as the clock strikes thirteen.

My latest Brigadier Gerard video has just been de-monetised for inappropriate language. Please have a listen at timestamp 40:29 - 40:31 as this is the offending sentence. Understand that this second review followed my objection to the first and was undertaken by a human being apparently. No appeals are allowed.
The sentence in question is this: 'I could smell the resinous faggots'.
Idiocy!
Comments / emojis welcome.

'Just what do you think you're doing, Dave?'

A new adventure from the inimitable Brigadier Etienne Gerard hits tonight at 10pm BST. It's set in Spain with mules, a parish priest, some naughty bandits and a guest cameo from one of England's greatest soldiers. Plus card games and bendy trees. I do hope you enjoy it!

What is the strange crime of John Boulnois? You won't find the answer on Netflix.

The Pot of Caviare by Arthur Conan Doyle. It's a corker! Enjoy.
(Do I have a licence for that German accent? Possibly not!)
