If you found me through my video about the 7 signs of a polymath, I want to introduce myself properly.
I'm Dr. Angela C. Meyers. I'm a researcher, author, educator, speaker, and lifelong learner who has spent years studying polymathy, human intelligence, learning, leadership, and what human beings will need to thrive in the age of AI.
My doctoral research was actually about modern polymaths. I wanted to understand people who refuse to put their minds into one little disciplinary box.
And, well...
I may have found my people. 😂
What has moved me most about the response to that video isn't the number of views.
It's the comments.
Thousands of people saying:
“I thought something was wrong with me.” “I've been told I'm all over the place my whole life.” “I never knew there was a word for this.” “I finally feel seen.”
THAT is why I'm here.
I don't believe human intelligence should be reduced to an IQ score, a job title, a degree, or how efficiently you can perform one narrow task.
And as AI becomes extraordinarily capable, I think developing the full range of human intelligence becomes even more important.
Curiosity. Creativity. Judgment. Adaptability. Wisdom. Connection. Synthesis. Learning. Imagination. The ability to cross boundaries and see the larger whole.
That's what I want this community to explore.
So whether you consider yourself a polymath, multipotentialite, Renaissance person, generalist, lifelong learner, curious human, or simply someone who has never fit neatly into one box...
you are welcome here.
And if you'd like to explore further, here are some of the things I've created:
🧭 The Knower–Learner Orientation Assessment, which explores how you relate to learning, curiosity, uncertainty and knowledge: www.drangelameyers.com/knowerlearner
🌿 The Gathering of Curious Minds, our intimate in-person retreat for multidimensional people who want deeper conversations and genuine connection: www.drangelameyers.com/polymathsretreat
🌎 My books, research, speaking, leadership development and other work: www.drangelameyers.com/
But you don't have to buy anything to belong here.
Just bring your curiosity.
Ask questions. Challenge ideas. Share what you're learning. Teach us something. Connect dots. Wander into intellectual rabbit holes. Tell us what you want me to make videos about next.
Because I don't want this channel to become simply my audience.
I'd like it to become a community of curious minds learning from one another.
To the 3,000+ people who arrived this week, and to the 2,000 who were here before the algorithm suddenly opened the floodgates:
Welcome. I'm very glad you're here. ❤️
Now tell me in the comments:
Who are you? Where are you from? And what are you ridiculously curious about right now?
Today I had lunch with Ray Kurzweil, and we talked about the future. Not just artificial intelligence, but what happens to human beings as AI becomes extraordinarily capable.
We talked about education, leadership, government, robotics, longevity, work, creativity, mental health, meaning, and the strange transition between the world we’ve known and the one that’s arriving.
One thing stayed with me: even in a future where machines can do much of the work we currently do, humans will still need ways to learn, discover, contribute and find meaning.
That’s one reason I believe polymathy matters so much in the AI age. I have followed Ray’s work for years because he helped millions of us see farther down the road than we otherwise could. Getting to sit across a table from him today, ask him questions, disagree and agree and wonder aloud together about where humanity is headed was an extraordinary gift.
And perhaps my favorite thing about the conversation? He’s still excited about the future.
Hi everybody! I'm excited to be offering a free Polymath Movie Club in 2024! We'll be meeting on a quarterly basis to discuss a movie that relates to polymathy. Our first movie will be the original Matrix movie, and we'll be meeting January 22 at 8:00 pm Eastern time.
