It's so easy to head to the Med over and over again.
To fly over & bypass parts of France & Spain that sit on the Atlantic coast, and simply continue south to the familiar beaches, and island resorts of Southern Europe.
But then you'd miss the delights of places like this....
La Rochelle in France is one wonderful gem among the towns and cities around the Bay of Biscay of North-West Europe.
And perhaps best explored as part of a cruise, as we did this year.

TERIYAKI DUCK BREAST
Jasmine Rice, Bok Choy, Shitake Mushrooms
You'd expect to find a dish of this quality served in a speciality dining venue onboard your cruise ship.
BUT....this was in the complimentary main dining room on Celebrity Apex
AND...it wasn't even dinner, but from the lunch menu!
Just 1 way that we were impressed with our first ever Celebrity cruise.

The port & cruise terminal of la Coruña, Spain.
Featuring these magnificent human figures (nude) greeting each ship arrival.
And, its one of those ports that puts you right next to the city, for a wonderful wander into the streets, bars, cafes, museums, and historical sights, that makes those locations, a real day to remember.

French Charcuterie
A lunch we enjoyed harbourside in La Rochelle, France, on a port stop from a P&O cruise back in May.
And while our fellow Brits mostly chose Pizzas & Burgers, we tucked into this delicious plate of selected French meats and cheeses, with fresh traditional baguette 😋
