The Slate Dragon

Artist and amateur animator here! My name’s Keilah, and my current plan for this channel is to mostly do fan animations of my favorite topics (but there'll also be some random stuff hehe) You're welcome to explore my channel as much as you want, but please keep the comments family friendly.

Both of the images on my profile were designed by me!

Two completely unrelated posts in one day is weird BUT! Look at this gecko.

Yes, it’s real. It’s an electric blue Day Gecko. They’re extremely rare, and endangered. They’re native to Tanzania; their habitats are threatened by illegal logging, and are often caught for the pet trade.

He looks just like the main character from my picture book series! (Yes, I write picture books, look forward to a video about that very soon!)

Some fan art of a work I greatly admire……
‪@madjesters1‬‘s TF2/Avatar The Last Airbender crossover!
Do I know very little about AtLA and have no real interest in watching it? Yeah. But was I totally captured by the various oneshot comics in this alternate universe and their overarching story? YES.

So I decided to draw my TF2 fan-class, Huntress, about to fight alongside Sniper. Maybe Gray’s forces have them surrounded.
She’s an Earthbender, in case you’re wondering (hence the blades hovering above her hand). She’s also Scout’s twin, so I based her clothing off of his a bit. I considered sticking with Madjester’s original intention to have Sniper have no bender abilities, but in the end I was like “Y’know what? I’m just gonna make him an Airbender, and he absolutely hates it cause he’s the only one in like the whole region to have that power (of course, that’s cause he’s adopted, but he doesn’t know that right now). Plus he’s terrible at it cause they never found him a good teacher.”
I also drew Huntress’s little blue jay/gecko hybrid animal down in the corner.

There are a few more differences between the original crossover and how I imagine the story going, but I’ll stop rambling now and leave all that in a comment.

I watched Transformers One yesterday! It’s a good movie. Awesome visuals and a good introduction to the TF universe’s conflict. (Oh no…..Hopefully the next one won’t be called Transformers Two, cause then that’ll be abbreviated as TF2, and I already know something animated by that name so it’ll be a bit hard to keep them both straight lol)

In case anyone is wondering, it’s not canon to the live action movies, and is only barely associated with the old cartoons. It’s pretty much its own thing.

‪@LuiTheBazui‬ now I can understand your fanfic of it!!

animation screenshots!!!

--Flint and Steel animation from another angle
--preview of a practice animation I might or might not post which involves a giant spinning banana (I made the table, although its material I borrowed from the same place I got the banana, and the character is sitting in a chair I also got from Blend Swap)

it’s a blue jay/gecko combination animal

she’s the companion to the characters in one of my upcoming fics! I haven’t figured out a name for her yet.

(there’s a shoe in the corner cause I’m busy drawing her masters)

I know the usuals were here (My family, and my fellow youtuber pals Lui and Budgie Crew), plus I posted it on Fandom and a couple people upvoted it, but my analytics told me that over 200 people had found it just cause it was in their recommendations??? What??

Minecraft screenshots!!!

-statues of Sniper and Engineer I built today. It was fun just free building for once; usually when I'm in creative mode I just explore the world, but this superflat world was made specifically for building on. (of course, Snipes and Engie are the versions of them from my fanfics.)
-look how satisfying it is when the rain hits the lava and does that little sizzling particle! (I was on a server when I took this picture.)
-A desert village I found that's somehow also in a jungle. There were a few houses in the actual desert.
-This villager's house was over a lava pit, and the roof burned off while I was trying to fireproof it. The villager didn't seem to care. I later built stepping stones in the lava pit.
-The April Fools' snapshot this year is really fun to play on (you can still get it), but the terrain generation in some of the "mines" or custom dimensions gets really, really weird.

I watched the Minecraft movie yesterday! My thoughts (minor spoilers but nothing big):
-I went into it thinking the plot was going to be hopelessly bad. It wasn't, actually. Sure, it's really not gonna win any awards, but it was decently coherent at least.
-The characters were the same way. People have said they were boring and forgettable, but I can remember each one's name and what they did. The male protagonists going from rivals to best friends was funny. Again, people have said....things about what the writers were trying to make their relationship out to be, but the movie fortunately says nothing about that and only portrays them as bros.
-The villain, surprisingly, gets more on-screen backstory than most of the human characters (except for Steve). Which isn't necessarily bad, it's just interesting.
-There are TONS of little references and cool things hidden in the background of the scenes, including a nice little tribute. For those of you who don't know the tragic story, a really famous gaming YouTuber named Alex, called Technoblade online, died of cancer a few years ago. His player avatar was a pig decked out in a crown and a robe, and in honor of him, the animators added a crown to one of the pigs walking through the village scene. I've never watched any of his videos, but he seems to have had a huge impact on the Minecraft community, and I think it was sweet that they immortalized him and his work that way.

-The visual effects were great. When the trailers came out, some had complaints that it was poorly green screened, but I didn't see any of that in the movie (maybe I'm just blind to that lol). The animals were decently cute, and the zombies and skeletons were nothing short of terrifying (in a weirdly funny way). My favorites were the wolf and the chicken.
-There are a couple silly little songs Steve sings, which would be out of place in any other movie, but this one doesn't take itself seriously, so they're just another piece of the bizarre atmosphere.

All in all? It was an enjoyable movie which I feel catered exactly to its target audience--like my teenaged brother and his friend, laughing at all the silly memes. I understand the hate directed toward it from a writing and "brain rot" point of view, but it's a hilarious little ride that I'd watch again if I was looking for a movie on a plane or something.

I'm gonna go play Minecraft and make a lava-fueled chicken cooker or something now.
