Dual Sport Doug

I've found the holy grail in foot pegs for the DR-Z4S, and most other dual sport and ADV motorcycles.

The foot pegs are from a US based company, located in Bend, OR, Motion Factory Racing.

I installed the smaller TRAIL model on my KTM 450 EXC-F and the Adventure model on my DR-Z4S.

Both models are 65mm wide (front to back dimension). The Adventure model are quite a bit bigger (longer) than the Trail model.
The Trail model is 100mm long (Silver)
The Adventure model is 115mm long (Black)

They mount on a spindle, allowing the foot peg platform to have a slight rotational effect using a skateboard bushing.

The photos I've added show the Trail model (silver) on my KTM 450 and the Adventure model (Black) on my DR-Z4S. The DR-Z4S kit lowers the pegs by 1/4" to 1/2", depending on whether or you had the rubber insert in your stock foot pegs.

I don’t really need another DRZ, but “resistance is futile”!!!!

In the olden days, people used to say “The Blue ones are faster” on the Thumpertalk.com forum.

This gem is available near me and has barely over 1000 miles on it. Unlike most used ones on the market, this one still has all the factory wiring for the tail light and turn signals intact, and no hack job on the side stand safety switch wiring either. It also still has the stock exhaust. I’m not a fan of any of the loud aftermarket exhausts.

Should I buy it and do a full build series on it? Like a “budget build” for BDRs, etc. ?

(I always like the model years that had a two tone seat. A friend had a 2005 model like this one I found for sale)

I have another case of Shiny Object Syndrome. I've found a dealer with a few DR650s (2024-2026), a yellow 2026 DR-Z4S, plus two old school (new) 2024 DR-Z400S's.
Which one should I consider buying?

Since my DR-Z4S is broke down and at the dealer for a leaking fork seal, I figured I’d do a small upgrade to the Trail 125 today: Milk crate mod!

I’ve also got the old DR-Z dialed in and ready for some riding. It’s what I’ll be riding for the next few weekends

I just returned from a 2.5 week trip with two of these three bikes. It started with the Dirtyface Dual Sport event, then the Touratech Rally, then a week of riding on my own, and with a few friends. They all need a bath. See if you you can spot the issue with my DR-Z4S. 😳😳.

I got a survey from Suzuki about my DR-Z4S, which I've owned for 13 months now.
At the very end was a box where I could type up some details.

This is what I had to say:

The only thing I dislike about the DR-Z4S / SM is the fact that you (Suzuki designers) did NOT retain the quick release fasteners / easy, tool free access to the air box, even though that is stated in your literature, and to this day (June 2026) the webpage STILL includes that detail. The 2000-2024 DR-Z400 air box takes 5 seconds and NO TOOLS to open so I can check the condition of the air filter to see if it needs cleaned when I am on a multi-day ride. The DR-Z4S takes at least 5 minutes, and several tools to get the seat off then open the air box to inspect the air filter. IT'S A NUISANCE! I show that in this video on my YouTube Channel:

Here's a video that outlines tree clearing on single track trails. When I am out riding early in the season, it's common to find trees on the road or trail that need moved or cut.
Years ago I started carrying a pair of leather work gloves in my backpack so I don't wreck my riding gloves moving trees or doing trail maintenance. Some really good gloves just came on sale at Amazon. Even the regular price is far less than buying the same style gloves locally.
