Too many bigger projects in the works have been slowing down the video release rate for now, but for one of them, I needed a new lens that shows stuff super close up! I finally got around to a test run with it, and here are some of the highlights. 1: Amber reflector, design A; 2: Amber reflector, design B; 3: Tire compass logo, dry; 4: Tire compass logo, tire shine applied; 5: Subaru logo, blue checkerboard pattern.

It has been TEN YEARS since the very first educational video was posted to the Cars Simplified channel!
At the time, I thought YouTube had peaked, and figured I would be ahead of everyone by having a web site. I only made this video because I couldn't find one like it at the time. I was trying to compile the best videos on each topic into one place; a mix of Wikipedia, YouTube, and Khan Academy.
I had a forum on the site, and even tried to get Jason from Engineering Explained (back when his channel had less than 5,000 subscribers) to be a moderator. That may have even been BEFORE this video, but I would have to really dig to find that info. Definitely around that time.
Thanks for following the journey, wherever you happened to join in!

While last Saturday isn't the first weekly upload window I've missed this year, it's not for a lack of things to make videos about! I've got 2 GTO videos in the works, 1 for the 4Runner, and a bunch for the Crosstrek. That's in addition to some general content. There has been a gap in the regularly scheduled video release pattern, and I'm not fond of missing those, but things should be back on track shortly! A video is for sure coming out this Saturday (a relevant photo is attached) and more are in various stages of completion!
Also, the channel just hit 16,000 subscribers yesterday. Thanks for being supportive!
