A new chapter for India’s CBG ecosystem begins today.

The GOBARdhan Central Sector Scheme comes into force from 1 September 2026, with a total outlay of ₹23,731 crore for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36.

The scheme will support the scaling up of Compressed Biogas (CBG) production and use through assured offtake, stable pricing, capital assistance, pipeline infrastructure support, credit guarantee support and ecosystem development assistance.
