GOBARdhan: 10 Numbers. One Integrated Vision for India’s CBG Sector.
With a total outlay of ₹23,731 crore over 10 years, the GOBARdhan Scheme brings together assured offtake, capital assistance, pipeline infrastructure, credit guarantees and ecosystem development to accelerate Compressed Biogas (CBG) production in India.
From strengthening market linkages to supporting project development, the Scheme aims to scale up domestic CBG production to 5+ MMSCMD by FY 2035–36, advancing waste-to-wealth, rural opportunities and India’s energy security.

Driving progress through focused action and measurable outcomes.
During the first week of Special Campaign 6, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas continued its efforts towards reducing pendency and strengthening citizen-centric service delivery.
Against a target of 7,500 public grievances, 2,217 have been addressed. For public grievance appeals, 117 have been addressed against a target of 500.
The campaign continues to advance Swachhata, efficiency, sustainability and timely grievance redressal across the Ministry.

A new chapter in India’s Compressed Biogas journey.
The GOBARdhan Scheme, India’s National Unified Scheme for Compressed Biogas, has been launched today with an outlay of ₹23,731 crore, creating a long-term framework to scale up CBG production and strengthen the ecosystem around it.
At Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, unveiled the GOBARdhan Handbook and Unified GOBARdhan Portal, highlighting the growing role of CBG in India’s present energy landscape and its potential in the future energy mix.
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, shared the Scheme’s vision and benefits, while Shri Alok Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, outlined its key features.
GOBARdhan brings together six key interventions:
Assured Offtake | Clear route to market
Stable Pricing | Government-backed administered price
Capital Assistance | Support for eligible CBG projects
Pipeline Infrastructure | Better connectivity and market access
Credit Guarantee | Easier access to finance
Ecosystem Challenge Fund | Innovation and ecosystem development
With implementation from FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36, the Scheme provides up to 100% offtake assurance, an administered CBG price of ₹2,110/MMBTU with a minimum ten-year horizon, and capital assistance of up to ₹2 crore per TPD for eligible projects.
From agricultural residue and cattle dung to clean energy, organic manure and rural opportunities, GOBARdhan connects farmers, entrepreneurs and the CBG ecosystem under one integrated framework.
From Annadata to Urjadata, strengthening farmers and rural communities as partners in India’s clean energy journey.
