"The Old Man's Workbench", prior to being MY workbench, was actually my dad's workbench - and it was made for him by HIS dad. So I guess that makes me a third-generation old man! Growing up, I learned a great deal of my practical "fix it/build it" knowledge standing at that bench - right there next to my old man, absorbing what he was doing, asking questions, getting in the way, and generally making a nuisance of myself. Good times! And now I have the privilege of sharing some of that with you!
The Old Man's Workbench
So, once again I’ve changed the name of the channel from “The DIY Dilettante” to "The Old Man's Workbench". It seemed to me that the prior name was not very relatable and I'm hoping "The Old Man's Workbench" conveys more of the simple, friendly and welcoming vibe I'm trying to create with this channel. In addition, the workbench itself is central to almost all content I post. Finally, "The Old Man's Workbench" is a sort of play on words because prior to being MY workbench, it was actually my dad's workbench - and it was made for him by HIS dad. So I guess that makes me a third-generation old man! Growing up, I learned a great deal of my practical "fix it/build it" knowledge standing there at that bench - right next to my old man, absorbing what he was doing, asking questions, getting in the way, and generally making a nuisance of myself. Good times! And now I have the privilege of sharing some of that with you!
I genuinely appreciate everyone's support, and encourage you to leave a comment whenever I post any new content - let me know what you like as well as what you don't like so that I can improve the quality and the delivery of what I post. If you have not already done so, PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING THIS CHANNEL BY SUBSCRIBING. I post content regularly - usually at least one time per week - sometimes more - but you can also hit the notification bell so you won't miss anything new.
Again, thank you for your support and stick around to see what this old man is up to next!

The Old Man's Workbench
First and foremost I would like to thank all those who have subscribed to this channel and welcome the most recent additions. It helps tremendously. I want to let everyone know that I have created a new playlist for content I create that deals with Decluttering. As someone who is interested in downsizing I've recently become aware that one of the issues holding me back from progress in that endeavor is all the "Stuff" I have accumulated over the years. So I will be making a concerted effort in the coming months to sift through several decades of accumulated belonging and actively "Decluttering" my stuff. My next target is my basement workshop so keep an eye out for some content I'll be publishing on that! Who knows what I'll come across down??!!

The Old Man's Workbench
So I’ve changed the name of the channel to “The DIY Dilettante” because I think it best describes what I do here in this space. Although I don’t claim to be an expert at everything I do, I will try my hand just about anything. You'll find me working on budget friendly DIY projects, hacks, repairs, builds, recycling ideas, refurbishing efforts, and occasionally other random nonsense on whatever may strike my fancy - with no real actual skill, plans, or knowledge - making mistakes and figuring things out as I go. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't but I'll share it all and in any event, I usually end up learning something in the process.
Frankly, that pretty much describes how I’ve gone about starting and growing this channel as well - just making it up and figuring it out as I go. - and I capture it all from my POV on video created by my Meta Glasses.
All the experts and gurus on "how to grow your channel on YouTube" say "pick a niche and stay in it" but I have a lot of different and varied interests that I want to share and, in any case, I've never been one who is content to just "stay in my lane" and I don't plan on starting now. Who knows what'll show up on this channel next? Not me, that's for sure!
