Still on a posting break but wanted to wish all my folks in the diaspora a very happy #BlackHistoryMonth! We may be watching the world fall apart in real time but we should still take pride in learning our history and heritage, especially in these times when those in power are trying to wipe it away.

I encourage EVERYONE to learn about true Afro-Descendant history beyond the surface level facts and myths we are fed about slavery and Jim Crow. Learn about the post-slavery reconstruction era to understand why this country is the way it is now. Learn about the African continent and the history of its people and nations before, during, and after European colonialism. Learn about Afro-Latino & Afro-Caribbean history & culture and how they have fought and continue to fight for revolution and freedom. Expand your worldview past what the mainstream wants you to see. That way, you will keep your mind open, educated, empathetic, and renewed.
