➡️ We need you to help stop the suffering of hundreds of puppies currently being advertised on social media by unscrupulous breeders, who are overlooking regulations, basic standards of care, and immense animal suffering.

help.four-paws.org/en/stop-cruel-puppy-trade-socia…

❌ Social media platforms’ inaction despite the reports, directly enables animal cruelty:

Ear cropping is a painful procedure performed solely for “aesthetic” reasons.
It is outdated, painful, dangerous and now illegal in many countries.

“Extreme features”, on another hand, are the distinctive traits of a breed that are pushed beyond their limits by overbreeding dogs, who are already showing strong, peculiar, and unfortunately “sought-after” physical aspects.

Insisting on those traits leads to severe health issues, as the puppies end up with unbalanced, abnormal physical features.

Pocket bullies, like many other “pocket versions” of breeds, pay the high price of their popularity.

Short, deformed legs that struggle to carry their overly muscular build, spinal issues, as a result of having to sustain such exaggerated mass...

These pocket bully puppies will very soon carry the weight of these tragic, deliberately hurtful breeding choices.

Share this post to help us raise awareness about this rampant issue, enabled by social media platforms' inaction and the continued demand for unethically bred “tiny dogs”.

#TogetherForBigCats 🦁🐯 Welcome home! 🏡❤️
When the animals finally arrived at our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary, it was an incredibly emotional moment for our team. There were tears of joy all around.️ 🥹❤️

All 30 animals remained calm throughout their flights. ✈️ The first 15 landed safely at Johannesburg Airport and then continued the final leg of their journey by truck to LIONSROCK .

The other 15 also arrived safely at their new home on another continent, at WildAnimalSanctuary in Colorado, USA. Both groups were accompanied by members of our team, who stayed close by and checked on the animals as often as possible. 🤝❤️

We’ve already introduced some of these special animals to you, so now we’d like to share all their names:
🇿🇦🦁♀️ Bella, Brynn
🇿🇦🦁♂️ Joe, Scar, Stanley, Lionel
🇿🇦🐯♀️ Kimi, Nyra, Amora, Valentine, Meko
🇿🇦🐯♂️ Benjamin, Negus, Dylan, Keko

🇺🇸🦁♀️ Lucy, Kalu, Kaila
🇺🇸🦁♂️ Tango, Cash, Toby, Mordelon
🇺🇸🐯♀️ Satine, Shelby
🇺🇸🐯♂️ Horus, Segundo, Thomas, Thomas Brother, Liam, Patrick

Rescuing these 30 big cats was a huge logistical undertaking. It took a large team of highly trained people working hand in hand, with every detail carefully coordinated. And we did it! 💪🐾

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support from the authorities, the team on the ground and, of course, all of you who have supported this mission. 🙏❤️

This mission, involving two simultaneous rescues and two new beginnings, would not have been possible without YOU! 🧡

🔥 Wildfires in Greece: helping animals when every minute counts 🐾
The latest wildfires in Salamina reminded us once again how vulnerable animals are during disasters. As flames spread, frightened animals often hide, and pet owners may have only moments to flee their homes, sometimes without being able to reach their beloved companions. 😢

As the fires were unfolding, the National Mechanism for the Protection of Animals was activated and FOUR PAWS’ partner Dogs' Voice quickly mobilised and deployed its team. Over the course of 19 hours, a temporary reception station provided care and support to rescued animals, and 13 animals were brought to safety, including strays and pets trapped at home. ❤️
One of them was Eva. 🐶 Found in an affected area of Salamina, the nearly four-year-old stray thankfully escaped without injuries. Today, she is safe in a foster home.

“We promised that we will find her a forever home very soon. We took her off the streets, and there is no way we won't give her the life she deserves,” says a member of the team. ✨❤️

Eva's story shows why preparedness, expertise, and strong partnerships matter when disaster strikes.
Our Disaster Relief Fund enables us to support animals in crises through partners like Dogs' Voice. Earlier this summer, we supported them with the resources and preparation they needed to respond effectively. 🤝

#TogetherForBigCats 🦁🐯 Lions and tigers flying high... ✈️
30 big cats from the former Zoo Luján are now on their way to begin a new chapter in their lives. 🩵

After the last animals were loaded onto the 4 trucks, the convoy was escorted by the police to Buenos Aires Airport in the early morning hours. 🚛️️

The animals are flying to two different destinations: 15 lions and tigers are heading to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa, while the other 15 are travelling to TheWildAnimalSanctuary in Colorado, USA. 🇿🇦🌎🇺🇸

As the major task of rescuing 30 big cats is nearly accomplished, another important chapter is about to begin: welcoming the animals to their new sanctuaries, building trust with their new caretakers, getting to know each individual animal and helping them feel safe and at home! 🏡💚

Individual feeding, veterinary care and enrichment plans will be developed to meet each animal’s needs. 🩺🌿

What does it take to make all of this possible? Time, patience, a dedicated and highly trained team – and YOU! 🫶

Please support them as they begin this new and well-deserved chapter in their lives. bit.ly/emergency-mission-argentina 💝🐾

We are just as excited as you are to see them take their first steps out of the transport crates. 🥹✨ It will be a truly magical moment!

#TogetherForBigCats 🦁🐯
One ambitious mission. Two sanctuaries waiting. 30 big cats ready to begin a new chapter. 🌍🐾
After months of planning and preparation, the moment we had been working towards finally arrived. Our team, together with the incredible local crew on the ground in Argentina, worked hand in hand to make this complex rescue mission possible. Big cat by big cat, every step was carefully coordinated and carried out with the utmost care. 💪❤️

We are happy to report that everything went smoothly. The animals that had completed their crate training entered their crates voluntarily. For those who could not be crate-trained due to logistical or husbandry reasons, the veterinary team – Dr Amir Khalil, Dr Marina Ivanova, Dr Slaveya Ivanova and Dr Julia Bohner – briefly sedated them and carefully placed them inside. 🩺📦What an incredible team effort! Veterinarians, caretakers and logistics staff – everyone knew exactly what to do and where they needed to be. 🤝

We could not be prouder of everyone involved as we watched all 30 crates lined up beneath the large tent. The animals remained calm throughout. ❤️

And then the moment arrived: it was time to close this chapter at the former Zoo Luján and begin their journey towards a new life! ✨

The crates were loaded onto 4 big trucks and the convoy set off towards Buenos Aires Airport. 🚛✈️
They are all beginning this journey together, but their destinations are different. 15 will find their new home at our partner TheWildAnimalSanctuary, while the other 15 will soon be under the dedicated care of our team at the LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa. 🌍🦁

Please support by donating for their new chapter in life and leave some love in the comments below ➡️ bit.ly/emergency-mission-argentina 🧡🐾

🇱🇧 Nasser’s story is one of many, as displaced families in Lebanon return to what remains of their homes.

Months ago, as he was forced to flee his village, Nasser couldn’t leave his two dogs behind. For weeks, he lived under a tent or in the streets, as the idea of being separated from his two loyal friends was simply impossible to accept. Many families fleeing the devastated zones faced the difficulty of leaving their animals amid the very challenging conditions they had no choice but to survive in.

By partnering with Animals Lebanon, FOUR PAWS has helped provide support not only for the animals left behind but also for the people who, like Nasser, have managed to stay with their animals throughout and are now returning home after the cease-fire.

But when Nasser returned to his village in Srifa, he quickly realised that many dogs of the displaced community had stayed behind, waiting for the people to come back. As he settled camp in a partially destroyed house, with very limited access to water or any comfort, more and more dogs began to come to him seeking refuge.
Today, and despite his critical lack of resources, Nasser continues to feed and care for the dogs.

Animals Lebanon supports him by providing food, as well as medical care when needed. Unfortunately, many dogs suffer from unattended wounds that require constant monitoring and care to ease their pain.
As these dogs have finally found refuge, Nasser and our local partners will continue to give them the attention they have been lacking so far. ️‍

Nasser’s compassion has turned his damaged, makeshift home into a sanctuary for animals that have nowhere else to go, giving “community” its true meaning. ❤️‍🩹

This is Sang, one of seven bears we rescued in November 2020 alongside Xoai, Khe, Oi, Dua, Lam and La. 🐻

The rescue operation was anything but straightforward. A typhoon struck Vietnam just days before the planned mission, creating major logistical challenges. Thankfully, Sang, Lam and La were incredibly calm and cooperative, helping us complete the rescue three hours ahead of schedule. Their reward? A refreshing bath and plenty of tasty fruit to enjoy. 🍉💦

Sang immediately stood out, not only because of her beautiful golden fur but also because she was missing a front paw. According to her former owner, she lost it after becoming trapped in the wild. Sadly, missing paws are a common sight among former bile bears.

Since her rescue, Sang has finally been able to experience life as a bear should. From watching the sunrise and sunset to exploring natural habitats, her vibrant personality has truly shone through. While golden-coloured Asiatic black bears are extremely rare, genetic studies have confirmed they are not a separate species or subspecies. 🐾

At our BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh, Sang has thrived. Over the years, she has formed strong bonds with Cuc and Ben, spent countless hours playing on the wobble tree, and perfected the art of foraging. Honey and pumpkin remain firm favourites! 🍯

Greece sets a strong example for animal protection in disasters 🌍🔥
Wildfires, floods and other hazards pose serious risk to animals. Too often, their needs are overlooked in emergency planning and response. 💔
In 2026, Greece took a major step forward by formally adopting a National Plan for the Protection of Animals During Natural Disasters, integrating animals into the country’s civil protection framework. ✅

As part of this new framework, the Greek animal welfare organisation Dogs’ Voice is serving as Greece’s national Animal Crisis Coordinator. The organisation serves as a bridge between civil protection authorities and animal welfare responders, helps mobilise trained rescue and care teams, and coordiantes the operation of reception stations for animals affected by disasters. 🐾🚑

FOUR PAWS has been working with Dogs’ Voice since 2024. The organisation is part of FOUR PAWS’ growing network of preparedness partners, through which we work with experienced local organisations to strengthen locally-led disaster response. Earlier this summer, we worked with Dogs’ Voice to ensure they have all the preparation they needed in order to respond.🤝
Recent wildfires in Boeotia and western Attica have underscored why this approach matters. Companion animals, strays and farmed animals can quickly find themselves in danger, requiring coordinated rescue, evacuation, treatment and shelter. 🐶🐑🐎

⚖️ FOUR PAWS has long advocated for stronger systems that ensure animals are included in disaster response planning. Greece’s progress demonstrates what can be achieved when governments, civil protection authorities and animal welfare organisations work together.

As extreme weather events become more frequent across Europe, Greece is providing a valuable example for other countries to follow. 🌍🐾
