With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Raspoetin. 🐯🌈

The 21-year-old, Siberian tiger had osteoarthritis for a long period of time and suffered from a few episodes of epileptic seizures over the past years.

Despite everything, he continued to defy the odds — a tailored treatment plan was developed by our vet which improved his quality of life for a long while.

Rasputin was a big tiger with a soft and lovable nature, and his sweet personality quickly made him a favourite to so many of our caretakers, volunteers, and visitors. 💚

Recently, his condition worsened. Raspoetin spent most of his days resting in his hammock, as his hind legs started getting weaker. When his quality of life could no longer be ensured, we made the compassionate decision to let him go — peacefully and with dignity.

Raspoetin, along with his siblings Rafik, Zita and Mirza, and their parents Juno and Cromwell, came from FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in 2015 only a few months after we took over the Dutch centre Pantera and turned it into FELIDA. 🌳

From the first day, he stood out — known as one of the gentlest souls among our tigers.

Raspoetin, you touched countless hearts and you will be missed by all of us!

Run free, beautiful soul. 🌈

Kenya is thriving 🐯🧡
Tigress Kenya and her sister Samba were rescued at the beginning of last year from a circus in Slovakia. There, the two tigresses were forced to perform unnatural tricks and live together in a cramped circus wagon. Even after Slovakia banned wild animals in circuses, they remained confined to this small cage, exposed to all weather conditions. 💔🌨️

When they arrived at our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary, our team quickly noticed that Kenya preferred having her own space. We therefore provided the sisters with two separate enclosures right next to each other. 🌿

Both tigresses needed time to recover from their difficult past. Since then, Kenya has been flourishing. She has become more curious and occasionally even seeks contact with Samba again — starting playful running games through the fence that make the FELIDA team smile every time. 🐅

It is still clear that Samba is the more social of the two, while Kenya enjoys her quiet moments. She is often found lying in the sun, completely relaxed and soaking up the warmth. ☀️💤

In December, Kenya underwent surgery to remove an infected uterus. Since then, she has taken another big step forward in her recovery and has started engaging much more with enrichment.

Watching this special tigress grow in confidence and comfort means the world to us. As tigers are solitary animals, we are happy that Kenya can enjoy her own space while still having the choice to reconnect with her sister whenever she wishes. ✨

#StopTheTrucks 🚚 🐄 🐄 As warmer temperatures approach, cows transported in metal trucks may be exposed to heat around 35°C, often with limited space and access to water 💦❌ . This is deeply concerning and must end NOW!

Lion World Café - A world of exploitation! 💔🦁

We have received many complaints and reports about the Lion World Café in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are aware of the situation, and it reflects a much wider problem.

Unlike tigers, lions are not native to Thailand. It was only in 2022 that they were classified as “controlled and dangerous wildlife”, meaning they can still be legally owned with basic registration, microchipping, and minimal paperwork.

But the reality behind this system is alarming! ⚠️

Between 2018 and 2024, the number of captive lions in Thailand tripled - from at least 131 lions across 31 facilities to at least 444 lions in 82 facilities.

Over 90% are kept in private zoos and so‑called “entertainment” venues, with around 101 cubs bred every year. The cub trade alone is estimated to be worth nearly US$1 million annually. 💰

This is a profitable industry built on exploitation - one that puts both animals and people at risk. 🚨

Despite existing laws, weak enforcement and legal loopholes allow it to continue, fuelled by tourism and the demand for social media content.

Taking photos with these animals, visiting these venues, or even engaging with their content online directly supports this system that breeds and exploits animals for profit. 📸

We strongly urge you not to visit, interact with, or promote facilities like this - either in person or online. 🙏
Instead, document and report the abuse to local authorities and via our Big Cat Reporting Tool www.four-paws.org/campaigns-topics/campaigns/ruthl… .📝

🚫 Don’t visit.
🚫 Don’t share.
🚫 Don’t fund this.

Let’s demand an end to this abuse! ✊

I don’t care - I'm a bear 🐻✨

Maybe we should all take Brumca as an example, because less is sometimes more. Moving slowly, exactly as she pleases.

If it isn’t snacks or naps, it simply isn’t now.

Big news for fashion! ✨

Etsy is officially going fur-free and it’s a moment worth celebrating! 🐾

Starting August 2026, the global marketplace will ban the sale of all animal fur, from raw pelts to finished garments and accessories 🧥❌

This decision follows growing pressure from activists, changing consumer expectations, and a wider cultural shift that’s been building for years. More and more, people are questioning where materials come from and choosing ethics alongside aesthetics; showing just how powerful collective voices can be!

This is more than a policy update, it’s a sign that compassion is becoming the new standard in fashion!

Fur is falling out of fashion, and we think it’s just about time! 📢

Brittany Ferries is transporting young calves 🐄🍼💔 and it's bad for business

Many people don’t realise that these calves are shipped on the same vessels as holidaymakers.
As awareness grows, reviews show that customers do not support animal suffering at sea.
Critical comments and reviews have been deleted and hidden on the company’s profiles as attention increases. They’ve blocked us, so we can’t tag them - but you can.
We’re calling on Brittany Ferries to end the live transport of calves NOW 🐄🚢❌

Dog Serj was in pain – but thankfully not alone! 🐾

When he was brought to our partner clinic in Moldova, Doctor Vet, he had a torn wound under his eye and an infected injury on his neck that had already gone untreated for days. Volunteers from the Aviagorodok area noticed him and acted immediately. Catching him wasn’t easy, he was scared and hurting, but the team managed to bring him in safely. 🐕

At the clinic, the injuries required urgent care.
The wound under his eye was cleaned and stitched and his infected neck wound was carefully treated to stop the infection without causing further damage. 🩹

While under sedation, the team also neutered him and marked him with an ear tag, ensuring long-term care and protection!

Afterwards, Serj was started on antibiotics, pain relief, and daily treatment.

Day by day, his wounds are healing, and his strength is coming back. Despite everything, he has allowed the team to care for him, showing a lot of resilience even in tough times! ❤️
Once his treatment is complete, Serj will return to his territory, where dedicated members of the local community will continue to look out for him and monitor his progress!

We’re incredibly grateful for those who don’t look away and made timely interventions like these possible! 🤝

#BreakingNews: South Africa has spoken: The National Council of Provinces has approved the Draft Notice Prohibiting Certain Activities Involving African Lion, to prohibit the establishment of new captive lion breeding and commercial exhibition facilities in South Africa. 🦁

Now it’s up to Willie Aucamp, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment to enact it — without delay.

This is just the first step - Stronger action is required and can be achieved by prohibiting not only new captive breeding facilities, but by committing to a complete phase out of all captive lion breeding and trade for commercial purposes. In line with the cabinet approved Policy Position, the Minister must fulfil his obligation to end the captive keeping of lions for commercial purposes, put a halt to the intensive captive breeding of lions, and end the commercial exploitation of captive and captive-bred lions.

❌ No more lion breeding

❌ No more cub petting

❌ No more hunting of captive bred lions

❌ No more lion bone trade

We demand ethical wildlife management and a future where lions live wild and free.

Together, let us roar for justice, roar for freedom, and roar for the lions of South Africa.

🐾 Vi’s Brave New Life 🖤
Vi is only about six months old, but she has already faced more than most cats ever will. She was found near a woman’s home in the outskirts of Bulgaria’s capitol Sofia with severe discharge from both eyes. The woman tried caring for her and later sought veterinary help, but despite treatment the infection only worsened.

When Vi finally arrived at our mobile clinic, our veterinarians were shocked by the severity of the infection. The swelling had doubled, and the only way to save her life was emergency surgery to remove both eyes.

Despite being blind, Vi’s spirit is unstoppable. 💛
She adapted incredibly quickly—seeking cuddles, asking to be carried around so she can explore, and bravely learning her new world. Her fur has almost completely grown back, and she’s already back to her favourite activity—climbing to the highest places she can find. Fearless as ever. 🐱✨
