He doesn’t know if he will ever make it out. If still with his mother, he would be nursed around ten times a day. But in the icy truck, it is not possible to even drink water because the drinking devices are not designed for such young animals.

Lion Juba and lioness Micca at our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in Bethlehem, South Africa wish you a pawsome day 💗

Micca is a very relaxed lioness that loves to sunbathe. Some days she comes up to the fence to greet anyone passing her and Juba’s enclosure🦁.

She loves to play but is also the jealous type and does not like it when Juba gets all the attention. She can often be found complaining when she feels that she did not get enough attention.

🐻 Flora’s winter adventures ❄️🌲
We are happy to share a new update on our latest arrival at BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz. Bear Flora was rescued at the end of last year from private keeping in Albania.

🤎 Flora was recently released into her large forest enclosure and has been enjoying her daily outdoor time ever since, under the supervision of her caretakers. She loves foraging for berries, exploring her surroundings, and testing her platforms and enrichment — although she is still a little cautious at first.

Flora is very keen on new scents, letting her nose lead her around, and she loves rolling around in perfume, fish and lentils 🐟. It is a joy for the team to watch her confidence build as she discovers her winter wonderland at the sanctuary.

Although she continues to make progress every day, she still needs more time to feel fully safe in her new home 🏡. Due to her past, Flora shows a strong attachment to humans, something her caretakers are gently working on. Our goal is for her to feel more and more comfortable in nature and confident in her own space, instead of relying on people 🌿🌳.

Stay tuned for the next update coming soon about lion Erion, who was rescued together with Flora and has been given a new start in life at our TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary 🧡.

Especially with senior dogs, winter weather can make outdoor adventures a bit tricky. But don’t worry – there are still fun ways to keep your dog happy, active and mentally stimulated indoors! 🧠💛

✨ DIY snuffle mat – fun for you and your dog!
A snuffle mat is an easy and creative way to keep your dog busy while encouraging their natural sniffing instincts.

💡 Tip:
If your dog is new to this game, start slowly and show your dog the treat, hiding it in a way that they can easily find it again. Keeping it fun is key!

🧵 With a few fabric scraps, a sewing machine (or simple knots!) and a little patience, you can make your own snuffle mat.

Did you know cows form an incredibly strong bond with their calves?

Just like human mothers, a cow becomes deeply attached and fiercely protective of her newborn 🍼🐄❤️❤️.
But in most dairy farming systems, calves are born only to be separated from their mothers almost immediately. Instead of being nurtured according to their natural needs and behaviours, they’re often transported at a very young age.

This separation is heartbreaking. In the dairy industry 🥛, calves are usually taken away within hours or just a few days after birth so the milk meant for them can be sold. For both mother and calf, this is an enormously painful emotional experience.

In their despair, mother cows have been known to cry for days, try to hide their calves from farm workers, and even make daring escapes to reunite with their stolen babies 💔.

Lulu is a spirited Cameroon sheep who’s been calling TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary home since 2017. She arrived as a tiny 12-week-old bottle baby after being raised in an apartment — and let’s just say, she never really learned to be a regular sheep... 👀

Instead of joining the flock, Lulu prefers to wander on her own, following the keepers around like a loyal little companion. And as you can tell from the picture, winter is her favourite time of the year! ❄️
