Back Roads to Nowhere

Welcome to Back Roads To Nowhere — where the destination is optional and the journey is everything.

We take the long way every time: old highways, forgotten dirt roads, quiet towns, and campsites you won’t find on a map. Sometimes it’s the middle of nowhere. Sometimes it’s somewhere unforgettable. Either way, it’s always worth the ride.

If you’re into truck campers, off-grid camping, winter survival, quiet roads, and campfire nights with no schedule, you’re in the right place. Expect real adventures, real gear tests, wrong turns, cold mornings, hot coffee, and stories from the back country.

We’re also proud to be part of the launch of **Boondocking Magazine**, a national digital publication dedicated to off-grid camping and life beyond the pavement.

Subscribe — there’s always room for one more by the fire.

Back Roads to Nowhere

Brinx knows camp life. Bella’s just getting started. 🐾

Our new puppy joined Tessa, Brinx, and me for her first camping trip in Michigan’s fall woods—with campfire bread, steaks over the coals, and plenty to explore.

Back Roads to Nowhere

Did you know Back Roads To Nowhere already has a Facebook page? We share photos, trip updates and our latest videos here:
www.facebook.com/BackRoadsToNowhere

We’re thinking about adding a Facebook GROUP so you can share YOUR adventures too—camping photos, rigs, campfire cooking, questions, and stories from the backroads. 🏕️

Our page would stay active. The group would give us all a place to connect and keep the conversation going between videos.

Would you join? Let us know below! 👇

Back Roads to Nowhere

The back roads. The campsites. The nights beside the fire. Now, the soundtrack. 🎶

Our “Chasing Nowhere” official music video is live! Join Tessa, Brinx and me for a musical trip through our Back Roads To Nowhere adventures.

We’re also releasing the song on all popular music platforms in the coming weeks.

Does this sound like something you’d add to your road-trip playlist?

Back Roads to Nowhere

No cell service. Help miles away. Someone in camp gets seriously hurt.

As a certified STOP THE BLEED® instructor, I want more campers prepared for that moment. Carrying a bleeding-control kit matters. Knowing how to use it matters just as much.

“The Five-Minute Emergency,” by Patrick O’Neill, originally appeared in the Fall 2026 edition of Boondocking Magazine. Read it here:

Do you carry a bleeding-control kit on your adventures?

Back Roads to Nowhere

One of my favorite things about truck-camper travel: parking somewhere you actually want to stay a while. 🍂

Back Roads to Nowhere

I left this creepy doll standing in the woods overnight to see how the local whitetails would react.

I figured they'd keep their distance.

They didn't.

New BRTN video drops tonight at 6:00 PM Eastern.

They came closer.

New video is live. I joked about Bigfoot by the fire, then the knocks started. Fifteen minutes of wood on wood, close. I recorded it. The recordings vanished.

Have you ever heard knocks in the woods you couldn't explain?

Yes, more than once
Once
Never
I'd be packing up and leaving

🍂 Fall is here, and the North Woods are calling.

If you missed it last year, "This Is Why I Go North" is Brinx and me on the back roads of Northern Michigan with steaks on the coals and color everywhere: https://youtu.be/oRtlLL1hz8U

I also wrote up a full fall boondocking guide for Boondocking Magazine: boondockingmagazine.com/fall-boondocking-in-northe…

Are you getting out this fall? 👇

Back Roads to Nowhere

A little update from the BRTN family.

Brinx has a new little sister.

We adopted Bella, a 4-month-old Lab/Pit mix, from the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit, and she’s already settling in better than we could have hoped.

She has a lot to learn, but she’s about to grow up around back roads, campsites, campfires, and the Michigan wilderness.

Brinx has been such a big part of Back Roads To Nowhere, and now Bella gets to start writing her own chapter with us.

Watch Bella’s first BRTN Short here:

And if you enjoy the shorter clips, we also have a separate Shorts channel:

This is only the beginning for Brinx & Bella.
