Hi! We’re Nick & Raychel, a Canadian couple passionate about alternative living, travel, and sharing real stories from the road. Our journey began teaching English in Southeast Asia, which opened our eyes to life beyond the traditional path.
Since then, we’ve lived on multiple continents, embraced minimalism, and explored ways to live freely. From building a DIY camper van and road tripping across North America to slow traveling internationally and discovering unique stays, we share weekly content with travel tips, work advice, cultural experiences, and vlogs full of street food, hidden gems, hikes, and life on the road.

Hi friends,
I know we’ve been quiet on here for the past couple of months, and I think it’s time we touch base.
Since Greece, we’ve been back in Vancouver - housesitting, working 9-5, saving money, and quietly getting ready for the next big adventure. Most people who’ve been with us for a while know this, but I also realize some of you might not: Nick and I aren’t full-time content creators. We work seasonally, which means we spend part of the year traveling and filming, and the other part of the year working “regular” jobs to fund it all.
We'd love to make content creation our full-time job at some point, but the reality is, we just haven't gotten there yet.
In our seasonal work era, I try to plan, film, and edit as many videos as I can, but the truth is… YouTube is a full-time job in itself. Between planning, filming, editing, and uploading, it can easily take 40+ hours a week - and that’s before factoring in travel day or, you know - actually living life.
That’s why this season, we’ve been focusing on offline life - connecting with family, meditating, and checking in with ourselves about whether we want to keep doing this next season.
You can always find us posting more regularly on Instagram and TikTok. If you want to see what we’re up to in real time, you can find us there at @nickandraychel (IG) and @notluxe (Tiktok).
We’ve got new destinations on the horizon, a couple of big projects in the works, and a long list of videos I’m excited to share - some from trips you’ve already seen, and some from places you’ve never seen us go before.
I will try to get a couple of videos up in the next month, but we will be back full-force in October.
Thanks for sticking around, for watching, for commenting, and for just being here.
This community makes all the late-night editing sessions, all the self doubt, and all the time spent worth it -
& I can’t wait to bring you along for the next chapter.

Well, HELLO friends!! *channel update*
How is it already September?! September always feels like a fresh start—I still get that giddy “back to school” feeling even though I graduated 10 years ago, LOL.
You might’ve noticed some new videos popping up on our channel in August. That’s because we’re bringing back our “How to Make Money to Travel” series on Thursdays for one month only!
We used to do these every Wednesday along with our weekly vlogs, but if you’re new here, you might see surprised to see a few sit-down videos mixed in.
Here’s what’s coming up in our Thursday series:
- How We Make Money to Travel (already uploaded!)
- How to Teach English Online
- How to Travel for Cheap (Free Accommodation + More)
- Side Hustles You Can Do from Home
We hope you enjoy the extra content and maybe learn something new! But no worries if it’s not your thing—we’ll still be posting our regular New Zealand travel vlogs on weekends. :)
See yaa soon!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Y'all, we are THRILLED to welcome another year, especially after a whirlwind of changes and adjustments throughout the past one - as we started 2023 in our van in Mexico, drove to Canada, sold our van, and moved to New Zealand to embark on a new adventure.
In 2024, we have so much more international travel planned and we cannot WAIT
*Here's a sneak peek at what's coming up in the new year, without giving too much away:*
- the NEW ZEALAND series continues as we will keep on getting to know this amazing country
- we will keep on exploring the Southern Hemisphere as SOUTH AMERICA is on the agenda!!
- one of my best friends is getting married! so a wedding is bringing us to CANADA& then... return to sunny, beachy, van life overseas? bus life? we'll have to wait and see...
(And fingers crossed for a quick jaunt back to Europe sometime this year too)
*Updates to our posting schedule:*
- come hang with us every weekend! we aim for Saturdays, but sometimes, when life gets in the way, we'll see ya Sunday
- In our quest for a better work/life balance, we're planning ahead this year. Rather than waiting until we're running on fumes, we'll be taking scheduled breaks. SO in addition to next week that we are taking off... we will be taking May 2024 and October 2024 off of posting.
We'll still be active over on IG with daily stories and updates during those two months.
With all that organizational stuff sorted, we want to extend a massive THANK YOU for making the past year incredible.
We're beyond excited to have you along for the ride in 2024.xx

We were talking with friends last night and this question got brought up. Now I'm SO curious.
How do YOU handle jet lag while traveling across multiple time zones?

The beginning of our New Zealand series is live!
We are so excited to be travelling again and we can't wait to show you the exciting purchase we made on our first day in NZ. 🤫
But first, we have to get there.

Today is my 30th birthday.
And I moved away from the west coast, my home, once again.
I spent the first half of my 20s worrying so much about my career and what it would look like on paper. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a film school graduate - and becoming a producer was my dream. So I quickly networked and attended events and took contracts and scoured Craigslist and talked to friends of friends and applied for jobs I was *totally* not qualified for and I overworked my way to “success”.
And 6 months after landing my dream job, something was missing.
I was 24, seemingly “on track” with a job I could only (to this day) still call the best job ever, and I just wasn’t happy.
So when Nick and I got together, we derailed.
(On purpose)
And here I am today - thirty.
Not at all what I thought I’d be doing by 30. Not at all even close to figuring it all out. Just wanting to soak in these moments next to my husband on the airplane thinking ‘what the fuck are we doing now’.
And those moments of being absolutely humbled by how much we *don’t* know are the best little birthday gifts ever.
