​የቢቢሲ ትግርኛ ፕሮግራም በሀገሪቱ ከሚገኙ አንዳንድ ኤርትራውያን ጋር መነጋገሩ ተዘግቧል። የተባረሩት እስከ ሦስት ወራት ድረስ በእስር ላይ እንደነበሩ መናገራቸውም ተጠቅሷል። በኤምባሲው ትብብር ወደ ኤርትራ ለመመለስ ፈቃደኛ ያልሆኑት ደግሞ፣ የተራዘመ እስራት ይጠብቃቸዋል።

​ከሪፖርቱ መረዳት እንደሚቻለው፣ የግብፅ መንግስት ኤርትራውያንን ማባረር ከጀመረ ሁለት ዓመት ገደማ ሆኖታል፤ ሆኖም ጉዳዩ በዜና መልክ ሲሸፈን ይህ የመጀመሪያው ይመስላል።

​የቢቢሲው ዘገባ ትክክል ከሆነ፣ መባረሩ በካይሮ ከሚገኘው የኤርትራ ኤምባሲ ጋር በቅንጅት የሚከናወን በመሆኑ፣ የኤርትራ መንግስት ስለጉዳዩ የሚያውቀው ነገር የለም ለማለት አያስደፍርም።

​ኤምባሲው ስለጉዳዩ እስካሁን አስተያየት አልሰጠም፤ ቢቢሲ አማርኛም የኤምባሲው ባለስልጣናትን ለማግኘት ያደረገው ሙከራ እንዳልተሳካ ጠቁሟል።

​ከኤርትራውያን በተጨማሪ፣ የግብፅ መንግስት በሀገሪቱ የሚኖሩ የሱዳን ዜጎችንም ኢላማ ማድረጉ ተዘግቧል።

​የግብፅ ፓውንድ ከዶላር ጋር ሲነፃፀር ዋጋው እያሽቆለቆለ ሲሆን፣ መንግስትም ይህንን ከህገ-ወጥ ምንዛሬ እንቅስቃሴዎች ጋር የሚያገናኘው ይመስላል ሲል የቢቢሲ አማርኛ ዘገባ አመለከተ።
​ልብ ሊባል የሚገባው ጉዳይ፣ የኤርትራ መንግስት ከግብፅ ጋር የጠበቀ ወዳጅነት አለው። ኤርትራ በዚህ ዓመት ጥቅምት ወር ላይ ከግብፅ ጋር የተፈረመው ወታደራዊ ጥምረት ፈራሚዎች አንዷም ናት።

​ይህ ዘገባ እስከተጠናቀረበት ጊዜ ድረስ፣ የኤርትራ የማስታወቂያ ሚኒስቴር በቢቢሲ አማርኛ/ትግርኛ ዘገባ ላይ የሰጠው አስተያየት የለም።

I am pleased to note today that the Federal Supreme Court has developed a Smart Court System, which includes an automated voice-to-text transcription feature to ensure that all case proceedings are recorded accurately and remain tamper-proof. The system also supports virtual hearings, enabling justice seekers to participate in their cases remotely, without the need to travel to Addis Ababa. In addition, a Network Operations Center and an Integrated Case Management System have been established, allowing litigants to track their cases digitally. At present, 24 federal branches are covered under this strategy, which is an encouraging start that we hope will soon be expanded to regional courts as well.

🇪🇹Trump senior Advisor meets Ethiopian Airlines CEO in Addis Ababa

Mesfin Tassew, Ethiopian Airlines CEO, on Friday met with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the President of the United States of America.
According to a brief update from the airlines, their meeting was at the Skylight Hotel, which is owned and operated by Ethiopian Airlines.
Details of their meeting are unspecified. However, it is highlighted that the discussion was “on areas of collaboration and strengthening of ties between Ethiopian Airlines and US companies.”

Ethiopian Airlines has already been working with Boeing, the main aircraft supplier, for decades now. The collaboration that is being cooked is likely to be with U.S. carriers. Notably, Ethiopian Airlines was awarded the “ US President’s Lifetime Achievement Award,” in August 2024.
Since Abiy Ahmed came to power in 2018, there have been talks of deepening privatizations of key national assets. Ethiopian Airlines was in the list that Abiy Ahmed’s administration prepared for privatization. (borkena’s story about it is available here )

In 2020, there was another news story that Abiy Ahmed’s government decided to hold off the privatization of Ethiopia’s most successful state owned enterprise as the public was demonstrating noticeable resentment as observed on social media platforms. Back then his government did not consolidate power and the military conflict with the TPLF, it appeared, added pressure on his government in a way that he was not able to introduce risky policy measures like selling the Ethiopian Airlines.
However, there had been a business delegation visit, from the U.S., to Ethiopia. Shortly after that there was a rumor that the government is selling a portion of Ethiopian Airlines to the United States companies. The story was not verified from other sources.

Before meeting with Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Massad Boulos met with the Ethiopian Prime Minister at his office in Addis Ababa. They held talks but again it is unclear what it was about. All that the prime minister said about it was that the discussion was on a “range of issues.”
He also met with Taye Atske Selassie, President of Ethiopia, on Thursday. The president unveiled that the bilateral discussion was on trade and investment and regional issues, among other things.

It has been customary for the Ethiopian government to make information on key issues of national importance inaccessible to the public.

From the pattern of privatization scheme, it appears that Abiy Ahmed’s government could partially privatize Ethiopia’s flag bearer. His government calls the economic policy “homegrown grown grown plan”.

#Ethiopian Defense Force Claims It Has “Killed 472 Extremists” In Amhara Region!  @TheHabeshaShow  👈

[Ethiopian News] 🇪🇹 In the latest string of claims, the Ethiopian Defense Force is saying that “it has killed 472 extremists” in the South Gondar and Gojjam area of the Amhara region. 302 are wounded and four captured.

In a statement shared on its social media on Sunday, it said ” Our troops who are on a mission of clearing extremists in South Gondar and Gojjam annihilated 472 extremists in a coordinated operation and wounded 302 [others].”

From what is said the operations were carried out over a course of one week until Friday this week.

One of those killed during the operation was, the defense continues to claim, Yabebal Kindu who was a commander in Lay Gaynt area of South Gondar. Another commander “killed” is Wube Yekoye.

At the time of this writing, no Fano forces or media outlets remarked on the Defense force claim. The name could not be independently verified.

The Ethiopian Federal government is reportedly deploying troops to the Tigray region of Ethiopia as the political crisis in the region is deepening at times sparking military actions between factions.

Tigray Peace Force (TPF), a faction of armed groups that broke away from “Tigray Defense Force” in resistance to what it considered a forceful measure, shared a picture on its social media page purportedly showing a mechanized unit of Ethiopian Defense Force.

The move came as forces loyal to the Debretsion Gebremichael led faction of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) are taking what appears to be a forceful measure in a move that is said to restore TPLF’s power in the region.

As an EU national, you generally do not need a visa to travel between EU countries. The right to free movement allows you to travel, work, and live in any other EU country—seamlessly. It’s a benefit that fosters trade, integration, and a shared European identity.

Now contrast that with Africa.

There is no continent-wide system in Africa that mirrors this freedom. And while the African Union (AU) has been actively working towards it, progress remains painfully slow. The issue isn’t merely logistical or bureaucratic—it’s a leadership crisis. More specifically, it’s the lack of 'visionary' leadership.

There’s still an air of insecurity and suspicion among neighboring countries—a hangover from colonial rule. But in 2025, that can no longer be our excuse.

The real challenge is mindset.

Too often, we see a condescending, individualistic attitude—each nation for itself—with little trust, no shared goals, no collective future. There’s a reluctance to tackle old problems with fresh ideas, to risk failure in pursuit of real growth. But failure isn’t the enemy—stagnation is. We must be willing to try, fail, learn, and try again. That’s what development is all about.

I’m no economist, but I do have a pair of eyes, a passionate heart, and a curious mind. And that’s enough to see the enormous benefits of enabling free movement within Africa:

- Boosting intra-African trade and investment.

- Promoting labor mobility and addressing skills gaps.

- Enhancing cultural exchange and continental identity.

- Increasing intra-African remittances.

- Fostering entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities.

Now imagine all of these benefits—measurable, transformative—stacked against the perceived risks of terrorism or security threats that are often exaggerated when this topic arises. Are we really saying those fears outweigh our future?

Trying, course-correcting, learning—this is the mindset we need. For doing nothing guarantees failure 100% of the time.

The fact that Aliko Dangote—a proud African industrialist and nationalist—does not enjoy the same movement freedoms within Africa as a French passport holder is not just ironic. It’s nonsensical.

We owe it to ourselves—and to the generations after us—to do better.

Let’s stop sabotaging our own potential.
