GOOD AND BAD NEWS!

The bad news:

My first video essay will be delayed until THURSDAY, JULY 23RD, AT 5 PM UTC.

The good news:

I finally created a new instagram account, after my old one was banned more than three months ago. I'll use it to answer your questions, respond to your messages, and share more of what I'm working on outside of YouTube.

I'm also planning to upload frequent mini video essays there very soon!

Here it is: www.instagram.com/newvicg/

My friends! Video Essay is on its way. Very busy days ahead to get it out by Sunday the 19th. Every bit of support is massively appreciated! Mentally I'm still a mess, but that's not going to stop me...

My friends! Unfortunately my first video essay is going to be delayed.

I wanted to have it out by now, but I've been sick for almost two weeks, and on top of that, the last couple of weeks have been difficult mentally and privately.

My goal is to get the video out next week, either Friday the 17th or Sunday the 19th of July.

I'm doing my best to finish it properly, but I don't want to rush it just to upload something yk...

This is probably going to be my most important and emotional video to date, so I want to make sure it actually becomes what it needs to be.

Thank you for believing in me. The video won't disappoint☝️

IMPORTANT CHANNEL UPDATE

I know I've been away for a while, about four weeks at this point. Part of it was mental health, another part of it was me going through a weird existential crisis with this channel.

When you spend 20, 30, sometimes 40 hours making a video and then watch channels posting AI slop get far more attention while your work gets only a fraction of the reach, it starts to make you question what you're doing.

And it's not just that.

My newer videos also haven't been performing well, even though I've been putting more research, more effort, more editing, and more thought into them than I did before. What's frustrating is that this has actually been reflected in significantly better watch time and click-through rates, but unfortunately not in more growth.

It feels like the algorithm is shifting more and more toward AI content, mass produced videos, and whatever keeps people clicking the fastest, while actual subscribers don't always even get shown videos from the channels they subscribed to in the first place.

Because of that, I've decided to change direction a little. I'm moving away from trying to post consistently just for the sake of posting. Videos will probably come out every 2 to 4 weeks instead, but I want them to mean more. The format is going to change too. I'll still show my face, but the videos will be less presentation-style and more like video essays. Less "let me analyze this topic for you," and more "let me take this thing we all feel and turn it into a story."

Just so you can better understand what I'm talking about, take the videos you've seen so far and imagine them with a deeper thread running through the entire piece like a movie, a character, a feeling, or a problem most people live with but never really name.

I want the videos to feel more like art, not just education. And if you're reading this, I'm truly grateful, because out of the 2,000 people subscribed to this channel, you're one of the few who actually saw this message, and that means so f*cking much to me. Also, feel free to let me know what you think of this change, I'm always happy to hear your opinion!

Anyway, the next video will either come out next Sunday (28th of June) or the week after.

It's about something that isn't talked about enough, but I think it's going to become more and more relevant in a world where everyone is overthinking, obsessing, and spending more time in their heads than in reality.

Limerence.

I'll leave a little hint below.

NEW VIDEO DROPS THIS SUNDAY at 4pm CET (10am eastern time)

This one is about how social media is making us socially awkward, especially in our generation

And I don't mean that in the lazy "phones are baaaaddd" way

I mean looking at why connection turns into comparison, why algorithms make real discussions harder, why dopamine and reward systems matter, and how all of this slowly changes the way we communicate with actual people

This video goes through psychology, neuroscience, data, philosophy and practical tools, so it's probably one of the most complete explanations I've made so far on why so many people feel weirdly disconnected, socially anxious or just less natural around others

I genuinely think this video answers a lot of questions people have been feeling but couldn't really put into words yet

Why does talking feel harder?

Why does silence feel more awkward?

Why is it easier to judge people online than understand them in real life?

Why do we have more access to people than ever, but somehow feel worse at actually connecting?

If this is something you care about, remember the time, because the first hours really matter and you being there early genuinely helps push this video to more people :)

See you on Sunday!

New video drops this Sunday at 4pm CET, that’s 10am Eastern time

I basically did a reverse dopamine detox and forced myself back into heavy social media use to see how fast my life can get ruined again

I’m not even gonna lie, this is probably the most complete video I’ve made so far, it feels way less like a normal upload and more like a full project just because of how many different scenes, environments and moments all come together into one story

I genuinely think this video explains a lot about why things feel off for so many people right now, especially in our generation, because a lot of these problems aren’t random at all, they’re the result of patterns we’ve just gotten used to...

If this is something you care about, remember the time, because the first hours really matter and you being there early genuinely helps push this video to more people :)

See you on Sunday!

This week I’m starting a self experiment.

For the next 7 days, I’m going to deliberately increase my social media use to see how fast the improvements someone has built in their life can start to fall apart.

Focus, mood, discipline, peace of mind, all of it.

It honestly took me about a month of going back and forth to commit to this, because I was genuinely worried about what it could do to me...

For the challenge, I’ll need to make a brand new Instagram account too, since all my previous ones got falsely banned by an AI flag a couple weeks ago.

Stay tuned.

Full video drops in around 1.5 weeks.

Instagram just banned my account.
Right now I’m not reachable there at all.

From what I can tell, this wasn’t even a real violation. It looks like their AI just went off and flagged things incorrectly. No clear explanation, no real way to respond. And honestly, I don’t even know yet if or when I’ll get the account back.

Honestly, I’m not even really mad about it. If anything, it just reinforces the point that you probably shouldn’t be on that app too much anyway hahaha.

So if you’ve been wondering what’s going on, now you know :)

When I made the video about quitting social media for 3 months, one thing became pretty obvious to me.

Most people don’t stay off their phone because they lack discipline.
They go back to it because they don’t really have anything better to replace it with.

If your life feels boring, your phone will always win.

That’s why the next video will be me ranking 25 replacement habits,
from actually meaningful to completely degenerate.

Basically a tier list of things you can do instead of doomscrolling.

Coming tomorrow, Friday March 13th.

Does anyone else feel like "finding your purpose" has become way harder for us than it was for people 2,000 years ago, or even 100 years ago!?

I've spent the last 5 years feeling stuck in my head, trying to just "think" my way into knowing what I should do with my life. I finally realized that we're fighting an uphill battle because of how we live today.

Basically, the more we're connected to our phones, the more we "blunt" the biological tools our brains actually need to feel motivated (going outside, exercising, socialising, etc...). We've traded real-life meaning for doomscrolling and shallowness, and it's making us feel more lost than we actually are.

I've been digging into some neuro-philosophy and Aristotle to figure out why this is happening and how to actually get out of that "stuck" feeling. I'm confident that the video coming out this Thursday will provide A LOT of value!

Until then, I have one question, how do you guys cope with the feeling of purposelessness?
