my new album BROOKLYNITE is out now. to everybody listening, thank you all for being here. i wrote down, “you’re not alone leaving california,” to myself because in a lot of ways i felt alone when i moved. somewhere on my journey of accepting my CPTSD diagnosis i decided to start focusing on the love around me instead of the loss within me. by putting pen to paper i was able to hold myself accountable to go deeper and do some real healing. making this record taught me that there is no light without the dark and there is always more love to give. i hope you enjoy your stay and long live the next chapter. 💛 #BROOKLYNITE

in honor of my new album coming out next week, here is a poem called “leaving california” and a warm connecticut sunset to accompany it. written by me and my dog jolene.

i know that sometimes
you can’t articulate
what’s on the inside
and in another state
good morning sunshine
some people never change
they’re doing just fine
but things won’t be the same
things won’t be the same

you’re not
alone
alone
leaving california
you got
a home
a home
jolene and i adore ya

i know that some nights
you can’t control the day
you’re on the dark side
out of the golden state
good evening moonshine
the three of us can change
we’re doing just fine
but things won’t be the same
things won’t be the same

you’re not
alone
alone
leaving california
you got
a home
a home
jolene and i adore ya

how i feel knowing that my second album gets launched into the stratosphere aug 8. this body of work means a lot to me as it signifies the end of my wallowing in a world of darkness and the start of looking towards the light. i hope these tracks are able to help you get to know yourself on a deeper level wherever you are in your journey. if it makes you feel 1% less alone like it did for me, then i did something right. to all my friends in connecticut, i’ll see you tomorrow at greisers. save me some mac n cheese!! 😎
