Even as the skies opened up and the rain poured down, the Etinan ensemble stood strong, their energy and vibrancy piercing through the clouds and captivating the audience.

The crowd was mesmerized by thrilling presentations of Okokot, Ekong, Abang, and a host of other stunning troupes, each act filled with passion and artistry that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

But the festivities weren’t just about entertainment. The Iman Ibom community showcased their spirit of unity and purpose, with key dignitaries in attendance. The LG Chairman took the opportunity to present the region's remarkable historical sites to the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, paving the way for Etinan's global recognition.

Akwa Ibom Youths Demand Investigation into Pat Akpabio’s Allegations Against Senate President
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State — October 21, 2025:
Youths from across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, under the umbrella of the Akwa Ibom Youth Coalition (AIYC), have called for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations made by Mrs. Pat Ibanga Akpabio against the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and his wife, Dr. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.

The call came during a peaceful protest held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Uyo. The demonstrators marched to the Akwa Ibom State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters, where they submitted a protest letter addressed to Governor Pastor Umo Eno and the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Muhammed Azare.
According to the letter, the coalition stated that it would have ordinarily ignored the viral allegations but felt compelled to act given that the individuals accused are respected leaders and prominent representatives of Akwa Ibom State.

“We call for Mrs. Pat Akpabio to be invited for questioning to substantiate her claims. If her allegations are found to be baseless, due process should be followed to clear the names of those unjustly accused,”

The group also appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take up the matter at the national level, urging that Mrs. Akpabio be invited to present verifiable evidence supporting her statements. The youths emphasized that while freedom of speech is a constitutional right, it must not be abused to propagate false or defamatory claims that could damage reputations and incite unrest.

They further insisted that should Mrs. Akpabio fail to provide credible proof of her allegations, she should face appropriate legal consequences, serving as a deterrent to others who misuse social media platforms to malign innocent individuals.

Receiving the protesters, CP Baba Muhammed Azare commended the youths for their peaceful conduct and assured them that the police would ensure justice is served in accordance with the law. He cautioned against any acts that could undermine public peace and urged continued civility in expressing grievances.

At the Government House, the delegation was received by the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, who lauded their composure and civic responsibility. He assured the demonstrators that their concerns would be formally presented to Governor Umo Eno for necessary attention.

- Releases ₦60 Billion to Contractors, Tasks MDAs on Timely Project Delivery

🎈Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, signed into law the ₦695 billion supplementary budget passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

🎈The signing took place during the October edition of the State’s Project Delivery Meeting held at Government House, Uyo.

🎈Speaking shortly after signing the budget, Governor Eno expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the supplementary Appropriation Bill .

🎈He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and people centered governance.

“Let me assure the people of Akwa Ibom State that all hands are on deck and we will continue to carry out our duties with probity and dedication for the benefit of all. With the passage and signing of the supplementary budget today, we are further fired up to ensure the full implementation of government programmes and projects as contained in the budget,” the Governor said.

🎈In a move to accelerate project execution, the Governor also released the sum of ₦60 billion to contractors whose Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) were ready and charged heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), along with Delivery Advisors, to ensure strict adherence to project timelines and standards.

🎈The October edition of the Project Delivery Meeting featured 12 key presentations on ongoing projects across various sectors namely :Tree Crop Revolution, State Electricity Market, Tourism Destination Marketing, Arise Senior Citizens Centre, Arise Resort, Ibom Tourism Summit. Others are the Renovation of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Christmas Unplugged, Oron Maritime and Jetty Project, CNG City Bus Project , AKBC House, Ikot Ekpene International Market, Renovation of the House of Assembly Complex and Speaker’s Lodge, Court of Appeal Complex, 10-Airport Projects, Itam Industrial Park, Equipment Leasing Company, Ibom Model Farm, RAMP Project, Ibom International Hospital, General Hospitals ,Ukanafun and Ibiono Ibom LGAs, Mother and Child Hospital, and the Aviation Village.

🎈In his remarks, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, lauded the Governor for his inclusive leadership style and innovative governance approach saying “We have never witnessed this kind of delivery review in our state. It gives us a clear understanding of what is happening across sectors. For me, this is a strong oversight function".

🎈The Speaker appreciated the Governor for the ongoing renovation of the Assembly Complex and pledged continued legislative collaboration with the Executive arm of government.

GOV ENO TASKS MOVIE DIRECTORS ON MENTORSHIP

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has called on members of the Directors' Guild of Nigeria, DGN, to be intentional about providing mentorship for young people in the creative industry to ensure sustainability.

Speaking at a special dinner in honour of a DGN delegation who were in the State to mark her 25th anniversary as well as participate in the State's Entertainment week, the Governor said it was a delight to watch Nigerian stars in Nollywood showcasing their God-given talents.

He, however, expressed fears that if the current leadership of the body was not intentional and strategic in mentorship, they could lose their audience to foreign competition.

He specifically called on the State Chairman of DGN to explore possibilities of bringing back some indigenous stars to assist in mentoring upcoming professionals in the industry.

"Let the industry understand that your power is in your multiplication. The more we watch you perform, the more we see people that you have mentored, the happier we will be and the industry gets to bubble.

"For me as the Governor I think I am first the Governor of Akwa Ibom people. I would like the Chairman of the Guild in Akwa Ibom to please reach out to our own sons and daughters in the industry to join hands and know that we need them, and that Akwa Ibom is also a better place to invest," he said.

Governor Eno who has been very intentional and committed to human capacity development, and promotion of Akwa Ibom creatives, unveiled plans to expand the ongoing creative academy to a village, to cater for a wider range of needs in the industry.

"If we really want to empower our young people, we should have a creative village where the academy would be a component," he noted.

The Governor appreciated DGN for chosing to mark its 25th anniversary in the State, saying that the State under his leadership was doing everything to maintain peace and make the State a destination of choice.

He said the State was willing to partner with DGN to train more Akwa Ibom youths in the creative industry.

Presenting an award to the Governor as Champion and patron of the Guild, President of the organization, Mr. Uche Agbo, appreciated the Governor for hosting them.

He highlighted the historical background of the organization which according to him, was founded 26th years ago, to uphold and protect the right, integrity and interest of television, film, digital and all directors practicing across the 36 states of Nigeria and beyond.

Mr Agbo applauded the Governor for his huge investment and positive vision for the creative industry especially by engaging highest number of their members to be part of his administration as aides on entertainment.

He assured that the Guild would partner with the State Government to train young people who are interested in working behind the scene in the Nollywood.

Earlier In his welcome remark, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anietie Udofia, thanked the Governor for hosting the entertainers, adding that the decision to celebrate the anniversary in Akwa Ibom State was for them to come and enjoy the safe, serene, peaceful ambience and rich cultural heritage of the state.

Also speaking, a member of the body, Ms Ebenezer Eno appreciated the Governor for hosting her colleagues in the State and for his huge investments in the creative industry.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Mr. David Sergeant popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom, appreciated the Governor for hosting the leadership of DGN to the dinner and for all his support to the industry.
