The humble Khiamniungan food — Langsuap
As winter approaches, the community collects Langsuap (wild edible fern) from deep within the forest. Families then gather around the hearth to strip, clean, and prepare them. Once dried, Langsuap is stored and consumed throughout the year. This humble food remains at the heart of Khiamniungan tribal cuisine.
It is also an age-old practice to use dried Langsuap to store and preserve smoked pork and meat.
Wearing the Khiamniungan Nüjam (mekhela) and Khaonie (shawl), Papanie (originally made of cotton), and Nyamtsi Nüjam.
