Preserving the legacy of the Philippine Collegiate Champions' League and the late Chairman Rey Gamboa.
Went to his old office earlier and retrieved a bunch of VHS tapes, DVDs and photos of the PCCL from 2008 until 2020. Their office will be closed down at the end of this year and I requested if I can have these so I can preserve PCCL's video and photo archives. Also got some tapes from Chairman Rey's old TV show aired sometime in the early 2000's
Went to the Balang Araw media archive exhibit last Saturday at the DLSU Library.. Also met some of OLMPH's archivisits in person.. Thanks for showcasing my content on your exhibit..
Since it's the 35th anniversary of the Luzon Earthquake, I want to share this picture of our old black and white TV that my dad purchased when the earthquake struck. He added a label "July 16, 1990" at the back of the TV, to remind us that something happened when we bought it. 35 years later, I still have this TV, just not sure if it still works. The last time I used this TV is around the 2000s.
Up next in my YouTube channel, I'll be uploading archived games from the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) from 2008 to 2015. This was the post-season collegiate league that features champion teams from different collegiate leagues in the country to determine the true national collegiate champion.
The league ran from 2001 until 2020. There were talks that the league will hold its first tournament post-pandemic in 2022, unfortunately, the founder of the PCCL, Chairman Rey Gamboa passed away in August 2023.
The games for this league were archived during my time as the PCCL social media manager and was given permission to archive them for posterity.
Weeks ago, we found a YouTube channel that has two subchannels and a main channel with more than 400k subscribers, monetizing not only my content but from other archivists as well. Seeing my videos being monetized by other people is one of the reasons why I didn't share my archived content until last year. Other people are benefiting on the archivists' hard work.
I have reported the channel via the YouTube copyright matching tool and it took down the video. The channel owner sent me a ChatGPT generated email demanding me to retract the copyright strike. When another archivist found out that a lot of his content were used without permission, he also reported the channel as well. That strike not only took down the two subchannels but the main channel as well.
Then the owner of the channel pleaded us multiple times in the last two days to retract our copyright strike because according to him, that is the only source of income he had.
To be honest, I'm earning very little on this YouTube channel. Yes, it is monetized but it does not earn a lot of money that will make this my primary job. Restoring my content takes a lot of time and effort. Transferring analog tapes to digital format, remastering them so that other people can view and appreciate the so called "lost media" that we have in our archives takes a lot of time on our end.
Technically, the copyright of the content we have is still owned by the TV networks and/or the production companies that originally produced them, but please give us the proper credit since this content came from our personal collection or sourced from tapes that we purchased/recorded and scoured through. The original producers may not even have an existing copy of our content.
I'm reminding all content creators that if you want to re-use our archived material, please seek our permission first. Give us the proper courtesy. Madali naman kaming kausap. Give us a tag on the video's description or better, send us an email before you upload the re-used content.
I just found out that this YouTube channel hit the 5000 subscriber mark. Thank you very much for continuing supporting this channel and expect more content in the coming days!
I have uploaded the iWitness 2004 documentary "Kandidato din po kami", which focuses on the nuisance candidates that ran in that year's presidential elections here in my YouTube channel. That documentary will premiere later tonight at 7:00pm.
Also, I'll be uploading the GMA News and Public Affairs series "Wanted: President", also aired in 2004, in the coming weeks.
To commemorate the 10th year anniversary of Pope Francis' visit in the Philippines, I'll be uploading the special coverage done by GMA and the 24 Oras Weekend episode for January 18, 2015 this coming week.
Sneak preview of the 24 Oras newscast from December 22, 2004. The day Fernando Poe Jr. was laid to rest at the Manila North Cemetery. This will be premiered here in my YouTube channel on December 22, in time for the 20th annivesary of this newscast.
