Hi all! Welcome to the Legendary Beaker channel, where I discuss topics involving any real science you can imagine!

I am currently a UCI undergrad going into first year this fall, and I am incredibly excited to be studying Pharmacology!

Thanks for stopping by!

Folks, when it's comes to 4th of July, I have a unique perspective, despite these trying times.

We should celebrate the fourth of July and our independence from oppressive regimes and states. Despite the people who wish some of our fellow proud Americans ill will because of their identity, sexual orientation/gender identity or color, and the flagrant ignorance of our Constitution as our fathers intended, we must NOT forget what makes us truly Americans- Love, acceptance, happiness, diversity of thought, and above all, freedom through liberty.

Let's not forget what happens when we put our heads together and set down our differences- landing on the moon, developing world class tech, saving lives with cutting edge medical developments and research, often at minimal cost to the scientists that dedicate their lives to their field, all in the pursuit of happiness for our people to live free and healthy lives.

Let's also not forget what happens when we allow authoritarian leaders usurp power from humans. There are hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of people who live without basic freedoms us Americans enjoy everyday, which, despite them being under attack, are still retrievable.

So when you have reservations to fly our beautiful American flag today because of who's in office, or want to fly the flag from your nation of origin, please DO NOT forget to fly Old Glory, because no matter who's in office, American values will prevail.

Happy independence day everyone!

Folks, we really need to shut the fuck up about LGBT people.

Trans ideology is a destructive thing, I get it. It fuels some blatantly wrong science that can get people hurt; it takes away from other communities that actually have merit in receiving attention, and it gives normal LGBT individuals bad press when they really don't deserve it.

However, the fact that conspiracy theorists or genuinely misinformed individuals attempt to retain a veneer of credibility by citing biological bases for sex determination is just sad and blatantly false. Gender is a whole suite of neurochemical and neuroanatomical phenomena that we have solid evidence for, and hand waving away tons of valid research is genuinely harmful to people that feel a certain way. The vast majority of individuals adhere to XX and XY sex, but for many, it isn't as black and white.

We need look no further than the fact that individuals can have XXY or X or any other number of sex chromosome patterns; or the fact that SRY gene errors in xy individuals can lead to males by sex, developing phenotypically female characteristics. Or intersexuality blurring the lines of our definition of sex when they present with ambiguous genitalia.

The point is, when you chastise people for something they have no control over, you are denying their rights as Americans and as humans.

We really need to get past this sanctimonious and blatantly bigoted denial of human rights to people over who they like to have sex with.

Is the Trump administration harming science?

I hate getting into politics but I cant stay quiet about the absolute shitstorm that is binary U.S. politics. Both sides are arguably only in pursuit of political power rather than funding and listening to science that can save us.

I'll say this once: University researchers are at the forefront of public health and safety, and many of them are treated like absolute shit while they dedicate their entire career to the health, safety, and beneficence of the American public, all while getting criminally underpaid and undervalued.

I absolutely hate that the current administration- the likes of which I had initially put my trust in to defend public perception of science- has completely eroded public trust in the scientific community and has launched the most orchestrated and misinformed attack on the field the world has ever seen.

They may have cut superfluous agencies, but they have unnecessarily defunded crucial agencies that maintain both public trust and public health (including cancer and toxicology research) in science- all while terrorizing the world with neoconservative foreign policy after they said they'd keep the peace.

The left is not scot free either- their reckless spending to benefit a small minority is appalling. Their baseless denial of the obvious biological disparities in body frames with Trans people is downright dangerous. Homogenizing the sports with Trans individuals is demoralizing for many.

Surprisingly, many dumb conspiracy theorists still adhere to leftist policies, many of which align with astrology and quantum mysticism, which undermines real medicine that is research driven and empirical. However, compared to conservative conspiracy, theorists' leftists are laughably less damaging. We get the likes of Terrence Howard who thinks 1x1=2, chemtrail maniacs, flat earthers, and bigots who cant shut the fuck up about gay and Trans people.

Folks, let's get past these harmful conspiracy theories and begin learning real science from real scientists, not far right or far left political pundits. Do proper research before you trust demagoguery on the internet.
