What’s Happened to Kindness Online?

Since returning to the channel after our 18-month break, we’ve noticed something that’s honestly quite sad — a sharp rise in mean comments and unkind comments.

Many of these posters are new faces, and while we love welcoming newcomers, some seem to think being uber critical or demeaning is acceptable. It feels like the online atmosphere has shifted — not just here, but across many channels we follow. Other creators have said the same.

So we’re wondering: what’s changed in the last 18 months?
Have people become more stressed, more impatient, more divided?
Or are we all just worn down by life and the endless stream of bad news? The cost of living crisis?

Whatever the reason, we’re incredibly grateful for our kind, loyal viewers — new and old — who still bring warmth, humour, and encouragement. You’re the reason we came back.

It's nearly September 🍁🍂 back to school next week and the nights are drawing in.
