Dominican Republic is the first home of Africans in the Americas, and the first place where the slave revolt took place. Without knowing all these interesting facts, my life journey led me to this country effortlessly. I'm one of the few original Africans that many Dominicans and other people in the African Diaspora meet, interact with, and get to know. Africa has contributed so much to the world through her rich culture, rich mineral resources, and her genetically strong, talented, and hardworking people. I believe Africa is the future.

Why do I love America, especially as an immigrant? America is not a perfect country but it's a beautiful country. There's no perfect country out there. Yes America has some policies that are upsetting, but we come from countries with far worse policies but we still love our countries of origin. Loving America does not mean loving everything about America. It's the same as loving a person but not loving everything about them. I have no reason to hate America. For me, hate is too strong a word and it has no room in my beautiful heart โค๏ธ.
Me and this country have gone through a lot together, the good and the bad. I remember living in London, England and praying that God would send my family to America. God answered my prayers, and we moved to Washington, DC. My family moved back to Africa but I convinced my dad to let me stay in America by myself. I got on a student visa, got my Master's Degree, won the Greencard lottery and became a Citizen of the United States. The journey was not easy. It was lonely and heartbreaking at times, but God connected me to wonderful Americans and immigrants, and we became family ๐ซถ๐ฝ. God sustained me in this country against all odds and the rest is history.... ๐๐ฝ๐.
For that, I am forever grateful for this country. America has been very good to me. How can I hate America for some of her imperfections. I might as well hate the whole world. But I won't. Love conquers a multitude of sins. I love the USA. My home, sweet home since 1996. Happy July 4th - Happy 250 years of Independence....Now let's celebrate this beautiful day!๐ฅณ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝโค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐บ๐ธ.

Sebastiรกn Lemba, also known as Juan Sebastiรกn Lemba Calembo, was a prominent African maroon leader. He led a massive 15-year rebellion against Spanish colonial rule in Santo Domingo (modern-day Dominican Republic).
Yes, he led the first ever slave revolt in the Americas, from Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic is the first home of Africans in the whole of the Americas. He died in 1547/1548, in Dominican Republic.
His statue stands tall with pride in Santo Domingo, the capital city of Dominican Republic.
