Vusi 'Cat' Matlala back in hot seat at Madlanga Commission of inquiry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foIZM...
Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, the alleged underworld kingpin accused of infiltrating the South African Police Service, returned to the witness stand at the Madlanga Commission on Monday, 17 August 2026, after his initial July appearance was postponed to allow his legal team more time to review documents tied to his collapsed plea deal. He has been subpoenaed to testify over two consecutive days, with proceedings starting at 9:30am, as the commission races to finalise its report by November. Monday's session was expected to focus on his alleged bribery-driven influence over senior police officials, building on earlier testimony from Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo linking him to a "Big Five" organised crime syndicate and to officers such as Maj-General Richard Shibiri and Brigadier Rachel Matjeng, who admitted receiving a loan and gifts respectively from Matlala while the disputed R228-million SAPS healthcare tender was being evaluated. Matlala, who faces 25 criminal charges including fraud, corruption and an unrelated attempted murder charge, remains in custody at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, where he has been awaiting trial for over a year.

Fadiel Adams unlikely to testify before the Madlanga Commission
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldpiP...
National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams is unlikely to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday morning, despite being scheduled to appear under subpoena at 9:30am. The commission's spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, said evidence leaders only received Adams's sworn affidavit and supporting annexures after 9pm on Monday night, leaving them no time to properly consult on his evidence before the hearing. Because of this, the evidence leaders will request a postponement rather than to proceed with his testimony as planned. Mr Fadiel Adams's testimony had drawn lot of intense public interest, with the commission expected to question him about his 2024 whistleblower complaint to the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption alleging that the Political Killings Task Team was misusing secret service funds for luxury hotels and vehicles, as well as his disputed visit to Westville Prison, where he is accused of misrepresenting his parliamentary status to interview and secretly record inmates linked to the 2017 murder of Sindiso Magaqa the allegations that also underpin the separate fraud charges he currently faces. While Adams has publicly insisted he is ready to answer questions and clear his name, his testimony now hinges on when the commission's evidence leaders are able to review the late-submitted documents.

Fadiel Adams Set To Testify Before Madlanga Commission On August 2026 WATCH LIVE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4VMr...
Fadiel Adams, leader of the National Coloured Congress and an MP, is set to testify before the Madlanga Commission on 11 August 2026 after being formally served with a Rule 3 notice compelling him to respond to allegations raised during the inquiry. He had lodged a Section 27 referral complaint with the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), alleging that criminal cases he had previously opened against Crime Intelligence officials were being intercepted, and sought IDAC's intervention. However, KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi accused him of obtaining and circulating sensitive Crime Intelligence documents despite not being a member of Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence, while Adams maintains the documents were anonymously slipped under the door of his parliamentary office, and the commission has questioned whether his allegations against the officials were sufficiently supported by evidence, so his appearance is meant to let him respond to these claims
