Horsing Around in France

🐴 I couldn't have made this up if I tried! 😂

I headed out for a completely normal check of the horses… only to find a broken hose pipe and our pony, Gordon appearing from nowhere!

So, of course, I had to put him back in the field, fix the fence and generally deal with whatever else was happening all while trying to film it.

The camera fell over. The horses knocked it over.

It's very raw, very real and basically just a little glimpse into what keeping horses at home actually looks like.

These kind of things are exactly why I created the Keeping Horses at Home community!

Because there are so many little moments, jobs, decisions, dramas and conversations that only someone who keeps horses at home really "gets".

It's an online community for people who keep their horses at home to come together and know they're not the only ones dealing with chaos.

If that sounds like your kind of place, you can find out more here:
👉 iamican.fr/my-everything-horses-page

And if you'd like to see Gordon's latest escape attempt, the full video is live!

Horsing Around in France

My very first Etsy printable is now live!

It all started because keeping horses at home can easily become a full-time job.

As we've gone from owning our own horses to running a livery yard and caring for even more horses, I know how important it is to stay organised, spread the cost and never get caught out by an early or unexpected winter.

So I created my Winter Prep Planner.
I use it to help me prepare the yard before winter arrives, one job at a time, instead of trying to do everything when the first frost appears. No one wants a cracked tap or hungry horses!

Horse care doesn't end when the ride is over.
Every Horsing Around resource is created by someone who understands what fills the other 23 hours of the day to keep horses happy, healthy and thriving.

If this sounds like something that would make your life a little easier this winter, you can find the Winter Prep Planner here for 2,99€: horsingaroundfrance.etsy.com/

💬 What's the one winter job you always seem to leave until the last minute? Or something that you have been caught out by?

Horsing Around in France

🐴 This last week has been full-on... and very, very hot! ☀️🇫🇷

With temperatures soaring here in France, Mitch heading back to work on 31st July, and our friend Chris booked in to help us for four days, we had to make the most of the time we had and adapt where we could.

We didn't quite get through all the jobs we'd planned, but we still made some great progress!

🎥 New long-form videos this week:
💧 The mysterious old wooden trap we found while clearing out the farm.
🔨 The soul-destroying job of fixing a water leak we were desperately hoping didn't exist... which meant breaking up our brand-new stable floor!

Coming soon (just bear with me while I get them edited!):
🏚️ Part 1: Transforming an old cow shed into a secure workshop, including a new roof, removing the old cow feeders, repairing walls, stonework and blocking up old entrances.
🐷 Part 1: Transforming an old pig shed into our second glamping pod.

Because of the heat, we had to change the order of some jobs and work in the shade wherever possible, so there are plenty of behind-the-scenes moments to come.

🎬 In the meantime, we've shared lots of Shorts to keep you up to date, including:
✔️ Roofing progress
✔️ Removing the old cow feeders
✔️ Chainsawing the old hay rack
✔️ Horse life
✔️ Cute kittens
…and plenty more!

If you've missed any of them, now's the perfect time to catch up.
Thank you, as always, for following our journey. Every like, comment and share really does help us keep growing.

💬 Which project are you most looking forward to seeing next... the workshop or the glamping pod? 🏡🐴

Horsing Around in France

This week I've been busy getting content flowing again, and there's plenty more to come!

Over the last week or so I've shared:

🏡 Why long-form videos disappeared for a while.
💧 A day with us, including finally getting the well working again.
📽️ A full update on everything that's happened over the last year.
☀️ Keeping the horses cool during the French heatwave.
🎨 More progress on the studio apartment.
🐷 Part 1 of transforming an old pig shed into our very first glamping pod.

...and lots of behind-the-scenes Shorts along the way.

I've also launched something I'm really excited about...

🐴 Keeping Horses at Home - a community for people who keep their horses at home, or dream of the day they finally can.

If that's you, have a look here:
iamican.fr/keeping-horses-at-home

Looking ahead, there are plenty more projects on the way:
🏡 More glamping pod progress.
🐴 Everyday horse life.
🇫🇷 Roofing, repairs and the reality of renovating a French farm.

Thank you to everyone who's stuck with us, welcomed us back and watched the new videos. It means a lot!

I'd love to know...

👉 Which project are you most looking forward to seeing next?

Horsing Around in France

A lot of this channel has always been about the adventures of Roxy and Éclair.

Roxy now has her own social media accounts, and since her content has had a bit of a glow-up, some of her reels will now be appearing here on Horsing Around in France too.

Same horses.
More responsibility.
Slightly more chaos.

Home-kept horses. Homemade chaos. 🐴

Horsing Around in France

Join me as I reflect upon the fencing materials that we have used over the years and discuss our decision about materials going forward! We've had one storm too many!

As we head into winter 2025, it feels like the right time to make this video public — a look back before sharing new fencing updates very soon.

Stay tuned — there’s plenty more to come this autumn from Horsing Around in France! 🐴❄️

Horsing Around in France

💜 Hello from Horsing Around!

Sorry for the radio silence — I’ve been pouring energy into my new project Purple Reign whilst navigating (hiding from!) the French heatwave this summer 🌞 and September has been SUPER busy!

But I’ll be catching you up very soon!

I know my lupus is appreciating the cooler weather 🍂 — who else is feeling a little more energy now the temperatures have dropped?
