Do you want to see my VERY FIRST YouTube boating video?
Way back in 2018, my YouTube channel was just a place for me to keep all of my videos. It was just random videos of car repairs, projects, and my kids. In November of 2018 I posted this video about installing my new boat winch because there were no videos on YouTube at that time about the Fulton F2. The video literally only got 1,000 views in the first year. In early January of 2020 I removed all of the old videos that were not boat related and rebranded my channel to be 'Wayne The Boat Guy'.

Concluding a week counting down my most viewed videos - at #1 is my video introducing the world to the Newport NT300. This was my very first electric outboard motor (besides trolling motors). Prior to this video, I had made some videos about electric outboards when Newport noticed and sent me their brand new NT300. I still feel that the concept of NOT being built around a proprietary battery is a better approach and that the NT300 is a good product.

Continuing my look back at my top 5 most viewed videos - at #2 is this video that I never intended to make. A few years ago, I was researching the cheapest boats for sale and noticed that some brands were not showing their 10 and 12 foot aluminum boats. As I dug into the topic I realized it needed it's own video. But what I didn't realize is how many people wanted to make strong political comments! I was attempting to focus on the consumer and not the politics, but even by trying to avoid it - people made assumptions about my political beliefs.

Continuing my back at my top five MOST viewed videos on my channel - at #3 is another video from 3 years ago where I looked at which type of small boat is "best". These days, it seems that the small V hull utility boats are being phased out by some brands, but hopefully small aluminum boats will still be around for many more years.

This week, we're looking back at my top five MOST viewed videos on my channel! Number 4 on my channel is my only video about sailing. My intention was to look at sailing objectively as to WHY it is declining in popularity. This video probably has done more 'damage' to my channel than any other because it was seen by so many sailing enthusiasts who felt that I had no right to my opinion. So instead of building an audience and fans, this video made people mad. I have spent much more time on sailing boats since making this video and still stand behind my opinions.
