I waited 7 years for this shot.

Not once in 7 years did the algorithm throw me the coveted viral bone, but this week has been VERY different.

5 days after upload, the video is still climbing and quickly approaching 200,000 views. It’s also managed to end up in the Top 100 Hyped videos in the United States this week. For reference, well over 3 million videos are uploaded to YouTube in the United States each day. As I’m making this post, the video is sitting at number 49 and has been steadily climbing the list since last night. Mind you, not every channel is eligible for Hypes (a viewer-driven boost for small to mid-sized channels), so it’s hard to understand the breadth of this accomplishment.

I was having mixed feelings about this video being the breakout. “Really? An unedited, 36-minute yapping session about my MS diagnosis renders the same views in an hour that my regular videos do in a week?”

You know what, though? I think I’ll enjoy the ride while it lasts, because I have no idea when the algorithm’s magic recipe will throw me a bone again.

The video has become a monstrosity of something more meaningful than my detecting videos ever could’ve been. Hundreds of people are commenting and booking doctor’s appointments for not only similar symptoms to mine, but for a ton of, “maybe I should get this checked out” oddities. My most recent videos prior to this one are also up in views, and many commenters have said they’re subscribing for the digging adventures.

Hey everybody. I’ve been trying to get up the strength, both mentally and physically, to post a video about a serious diagnosis I received a few weeks ago following a week of hospitalization in July.

I am still very sick and have another appointment today to try and curb what’s happening, as I’m not getting any relief and it has been almost 2 months since this “journey” began on July 6th. While I am optimistic overall, I’m exhausted.

I truly hope I can upload a video about my Summer later this week, but my treatment today will knock me out for a few days in the productivity department.

I just wanted to say I’m thinking of you all and miss you guys. I don’t mean to leave you in the dark, but a video will share things that will reach more of you than this post will, as I understand posts get buried on YouTube. I do have a few videos in the pipeline to edit while I heal up, but the mental energy it takes to edit right now is daunting.

To fill you in:
This video was largely finished before my usual Monday drop, but on Monday, something happened with my body that forced me to go to my PCP, followed by the ER, resulting in a CT scan and an MRI this past Wednesday. My lower back is a complete disaster. I don't know what the future holds yet, but thankfully the emergency surgery that appeared to be on the table earlier this week has passed, and I should be able to manage what's going on with physical therapy and a surgical consult in the very near future. I will keep you all posted in terms of what pertains to the channel. Send me all of the positive vibes, guys! That was one of the most terrifying weeks I've ever had... I'm just glad I could get this video uploaded, finally!
