Walk On Mars (WOM) is a Pop-Punk project started by Mary Jo Swank. Terminating gender stereotypes and consistently representing neon green in the coolest way possible, WOM has reached over 40 million views on ‘Stacy’s Side’ a parody of Fountains of Wayne’s song ‘Stacy's Mom.’ Mary Jo’s online efforts have led her to collaborate with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra on stage with Grammy-winning composer, James Blachly, and perform annually at THON, Penn State University’s charity fundraiser to support families impacted by childhood cancer.
After releasing Walk On Mars’ debut album under Wol'Flower Records in 2023, Mary Jo is now pursuing her musical vision for the project as an independent artist. Her first independent release, entitled ‘Voodoo Barbie,’ details Mary Jo’s struggle against gender stereotypes and misogyny throughout her career as an artist. Her mission is to write and perform relatable music that can inspire anyone to reach beyond the stars and walk on Mars.

Walk On Mars
Two weeks ago, my songs 'Voodoo Barbie', 'Fraud', and others were taken down from all streaming platforms.
As you may know, I have a troubling past involving a company that is the cause of these takedowns. I feel completely broken, confused, and there is a massive hole in my heart that music used to fill. I don't even know where else to begin to describe my pain.
For the last year, I felt so much excitement, hope, and fulfillment from the tremendous amount of success/support I've been getting finally releasing music that I love without control. A part of me returned, and it's once again been taken away.
Last night, I was featured on @TheNiteShowMaine to talk more about the situation and other issues independent artists are constantly facing. It would mean the world to me if you checked out this interview.
In the meantime, we have launched a link for you to listen to the removed songs and, at the request of many of our supporters, a GoFundMe. Both are linked on our website: walkonmarsband.com
We hope to have more updates soon. I swear that I will find a way to bring back my art and own it forever 💚
