King Charles III has been awarded a Green Blue Peter badge today on Earth Day 2026 🌍
The honour recognises his decades-long work on environmental conservation and sustainability.
The ceremony took place at Dumfries House in Scotland, the headquarters of The King’s Foundation.
Blue Peter presenter Joel Mawhinney handed over the shield-shaped badge during filming for a special edition of the BBC children’s show.
During the visit, the King also spent time with young Green Badge recipients enrolled in The King’s Foundation’s educational initiatives.
This isn’t the first time Charles has received a Blue Peter badge, in 2023, both the King and Queen were awarded Gold badges in recognition of his environmental work.

Buckingham Palace have confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will undertake a state visit to the United States in late April, where they will meet US President Donald Trump.
This will mark the King’s first visit to the USA as Monarch.
The press release states:
“Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory.”
Public opinion in the UK appears divided ahead of the visit, with some questioning its timing. Calls from a US lawmaker for The King to meet Epstein victims come as scrutiny around Prince Andrew’s past association continues.
Make sure you’re subscribed to the Royal Family Channel for full coverage of the state visit, with updates and content in the lead-up and throughout the visit.

In 1957, journalist and peer Lord Altrincham sparked a national debate after criticising Queen Elizabeth II’s public style and the makeup of the Royal court.
His comments, including comparing the Queen’s speaking style to a “priggish schoolgirl”, drew strong public reaction across Britain.
When Altrincham appeared on ITN to defend his views, the situation escalated into a physical confrontation outside Television House.
This rare archive captures both the heated moment and the wider debate about the monarchy’s place in a changing society.
