remain in the vine

A divided heart distances us from God.

Israel did not completely obey, they didn't completely conquer and chose to compromise with the inhabitants of the land.

Because of Israel's failure to complete the conquest, they lived in compromise. But God didn't call us to compromise, He called us to be conquerors.

There's always a reason behind God's commands. We read throughout the Old Testament how God's commands seem so intense according to today's moral standards. He commanded them to completely destroy and leave behind no living thing.

God wasn't raising a merciless nation, He was raising a holy nation.

"A little leaven leaves the whole lump." (Galatians 5:9)

Today's idols are more subtle but just as deadly as Baals : laziness, comfort, emotions, greed, etc.

One act of compromise will become a domino effect. We need to drive out the things taking God's place as soon as possible as often as possible.

What is God calling you to drive out your heart?

remain in the vine

He is more precious than silver, more costly than gold. Yet why do we live like He isn't?

Let us be like Zaccheus: excited and eager to see Jesus, willing to do whatever it takes to have a glimpse, and being with Jesus is our greatest joy.

remain in the vine

Without intimacy, there's no security.

David's life is reflected in his Psalms, which are tapestries of his pain, peace, and praise. David's life was far from comfortable, but he made it a point to never be too far from God.

He wasn't perfect, but he was always pursuing God's presence.

It's not easy to stay calm when things get overwhelming, but how we respond is what sets us Christians apart from the world.

We can see all throughout history, men and women of God enduring the harshest of conditions - not because of how strong they were, but because of how close they were to God.

May we be a people so secure in our relationship with God that no matter how hard it gets, we can sing, "it is well."

remain in the vine

If you want a life that looks like the Word, you need to constantly look at the Word.

You don't just think about it – you treasure it.

We shouldn't just go to God's Word when we have time. We go to God's Word at all times.

When God told Joshua that "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth," – He calls Joshua to fill his heart with God's Word. He also encouraged Joshua to "meditate on it day & night." God wanted Joshua's heart and mind to be filled with the Word, "so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it."

We become what we behold. What are you beholding? Who are you becoming?

All of God's works are intended to reflect His ways.

You can tell if something is a work of God if it points us to His nature: faithful, just, trustworthy, holy, sanctifying, kind.

Even if it causes pain and loneliness, if it ends up with a deeper awareness & appreciation of who God is - it's God's work.

We can find quiet confidence in every circumstance knowing that God's works & words are faithful, kind and true.

Let us learn to rely on & rest in God's character, not in our circumstances.

remain in the vine

How freeing it is to know what truly matters.

We're all guilty of complicating God's will.
Whether it's money, ministry, marriage, or the mundane, many of us want to know what God's will is for our lives. Because we know that His ways are far better than our ways, so there's nothing wrong with seeking His will in everything.

But we mustn't let the details distract us from God's design. God's ultimate will for each and every one of us is our sanctification (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

As we seek God's will, we mustn't lose sight of the One thing. Let's always choose the better part.

remain in the vine

Being a college freshman, there are many things taking my attention & time. This doesn't mean it's okay for me to have less time with God. Like Mary, I want to choose the better part. I'm grateful to have come across this video by ‪@Emet315‬. In between my morning & afternoon classes, I find rest in His presence, and this video is one of the things that help.

I don't know what you're going through or the burdens you're carrying, but God invites you to be with Him. If you're someone that needs to be reminded of God's love, or if you want to find rest, He is eager to welcome you with open arms.
