The M48A3 is an iconic American main battle tank, widely deployed during the Vietnam War. The Type 59, on the other hand, is a Chinese tank developed from the Soviet T-54 design.
Now imagine a battlefield where ten M48A3 tanks face off against ten Type 59s, lining up for combat in a 19th-century–style formation. What would such a clash look like?

The German Panzer VIII tank from World War II, code-named Maus, was once considered the largest, heaviest, and most powerful tank ever built.
However, it was only “the biggest” in prototype form and never had the chance to appear on the battlefield.

Originally called the Mammut, the Maus never saw actual combat, making it difficult to assess its true effectiveness in warfare.

Some historians believe that if the Maus had been mass-produced and deployed, it could have changed the course of World War II.
However, many others argue that even if it had been used on the Western Front, it would have been severely limited by its lack of mobility and the difficulty of maintaining consistent firing performance during battle.

Even so, with the surviving prototypes that exist today, the Maus still stands as the largest and heaviest tank ever constructed by mankind, a truly remarkable achievement in military engineering.

The Maus represents the logical outcome of Nazi Germany’s military ambitions.
Hitler’s army was known for its grand ambitions and its pursuit of groundbreaking, ahead-of-its-time technologies.
Nazi Germany produced numerous unique military inventions, including powerful vehicles and devastating weapons.
So, it’s no surprise that Hitler’s forces dreamed of building the largest tank the world had ever seen.
