Have you seen this video yet? A big YouTube channel covered sumo and they reached out to ya girl - Ter, to ask some questions about sumo wrestling and the Mongolians. Watching this video makes me miss making videos a lot, and I know I'm the queen of no-follow throughs. But damn, this hit differently. The basho is coming soon, and I have tickets to this one. My life in Ryogoku has been great, but it's really not the same when the big reason I came here is collecting digital cobwebs. I miss making videos for this channel a lot. Thank you to Sam Ellis, and the team at Search Party for the opportunity to talk about the sumo again.
So I live in Ryogoku now and I enjoyed some Jazz outside the Kokugikan today. So as your insider on the streets of sumo town, here's some sumo gossss🍵 that I have witnessed with my own 2 eyes!
1. As I was passing by the Kokugikan on my way home, I saw a very very fancy car flashing hazard lights outside the Kokugikan side gate. The black car really caught my eye because it was quite faaaancy, and lo and behold, I saw walking out of the kokugikan - the one and only Yokozuna Kisenosato on the phone! A chauffer then came out of the car, opened the door and he jumped in the fancy black car. It's official!! That guy is miiiinted.
2. Early morning, at one of the major intersections near Ryogoku station, I peeped a certain Mr. Gonoyama on the passenger seat of a car smoking heated tobacco 👀👀.... gotta let off steam somehow!!
3. I audibly gasped when while waiting for the crossing light to turn green, a black car waiting to turn was being driven by..... Hokuseiho! 😲😲😲 He now has facial hair (patchy at best) and talking to a short lady on the passenger's seat. #clutchmypearls

Day 13 was full of title fights, and the lower division yusho deciding fights. Such a different vibe in the box seats!! Also, I'm pretty sure Hoshoryu heard at least 2 out of the 97 times I cheered his name. I might need to check out the sumo coverage on TV if my screaming made it hehehehehehehehehehe
Other than being the Waka-brothers' sumo dad, this Mongolian-Chinese oyakata could be one of the biggest badasses in Sumo!
Sokokurai was forced to retire by the JSA when he was implicated in match-fixing. When he refused to do so, he was dismissed and took them to court. It was later ruled by the Tokyo District Courts that his dismissal had no basis, so he reappeared in the banzuke in the same rank as when he was wrongly dismissed.
Now he's running Arashio Stable and dining with the most inconsistent sumo YouTuber in Japan. He invited me to watch practice at his stable and gave me his business card. I should've asked him to sign it but my belly was full of lamb 😪
