One of the most anticipated LEGO sets of the year has been officially revealed.
The LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star will be releasing October 1st, with a piece count of 9,023 pieces and coming in at $999.99, it is officially the most expensive LEGO set ever produced. It is also the most pieces of any LEGO Star Wars set, and the fifth-largest LEGO set of all time in terms of piece count.
I have a lot of thoughts on this set. Firstly, the flattened design doesn't bother me a whole lot. I like it, but still do prefer the spherical shape of the older Death Star sets. That being said, while the design is fine and all, we have to take into account that this will be the first LEGO set to cost you $1,000 to get. Let that sink in for a moment!
Because of this premium price, you would expect the quality of the set itself to be premium. Sadly, that isn't the case in my eyes. The minifigures highlight this problem. There are 38 of them included, a record for minifigures in a single set, but these figures vary in quality. As far as I can tell, the only two to have printed arms are Darth Vader and Galen Erso (who is a very welcome inclusion, as we've been long-overdue for a minifigure of his character for nearly a decade), and the only one to have dual-molded legs is the Hot Tub Stormtrooper (a random but fun addition from the LEGO Star Wars video games). This lack of detail on the minifigures included with a $1,000 LEGO set feels really cheap to me, and while the figure selection is great, the design quality of them leaves a lot to be desired.
This set is undeniably cool, but it doesn't do much to justify that gargantuan price tag. I have no plans to get it, as it is FAR out of my price range. Do you plan to get it? Share your thoughts on this set, its minifigs, and its price in the comments below.

LEGO has unveiled a new Christmas-themed Star Wars set that'll be releasing on October 1st: Gingerbread AT-AT Walker!
This 697-piece set will retail for $59.99, and comes with a fun Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure, with a specially-printed cape and exclusive helmet color.
The AT-AT itself is scaled down from previous versions, but I feel that it still works at this scale. The cockpit of the AT-AT opens, and there's a Christmas-themed interior featuring a fireplace, stockings, and other festive decorations.
These LEGO Star Wars Christmas sets are always so fun, and I think this is a great addition to that lineup. The price of $59.99 also seems fairly-reasonable when compared to other recent Star Wars releases.
