Last night the city bled music, and I was the blade that opened the vein.
The concert was pure dark velvet — dangerous, luxurious, and cruel in the most beautiful way. The notes spilled from my saxophone like warm blood under the glare of the stage lights, heavy with yearning and barely-contained fury. Every phrase I ripped out lingered in the air like gun smoke after a crime.
And the crowd… God, the crowd was magnificent. Famished. Ferocious. They didn’t applaud — they snarled for more between songs, teeth flashing, eyes shining with hunger. No polite restraint, no civilized distance. Just pure, primal craving. Exactly the way I like them.
There’s something almost holy about playing for people who want to devour you whole.
I poured everything I had into that stage. They still demanded more.
