David Read and Dial the Gate just released a 30min video revealing details about what the new show would be about (through his sources at MGM).

Here is a short summarization for those not interested in watching the entire 30mins.

The show was apparently going to take place in an alternate reality/timeline rather than simply continuing the existing SG-1/Atlantis/Universe story.

The big hook was:

1. A BC-307/U.S. Air Force ship called the USS Argo suddenly appears in Earth's orbit in an alternate reality.
2. The ship is essentially a ghost ship, with "our" Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) apparently the sole survivor.
3. Shanks was reportedly going to be a series regular, not merely a cameo or nostalgia appearance. (Revealed by Shanks at a convention a few days ago)
4. The show was expected to feature over half a dozen returning cast members from previous Stargate iterations in recurring or guest roles, appearing as alternate versions of their iconic characters
5. The mystery surrounding what happened to the Argo and its crew would kick off the larger story.
6. Crucially, the Stargate program did not exist in this reality, and the Stargate itself would not have been activated until several episodes into the season The audience would first be investigating the Argo, Daniel, and this alternate reality. Daniel would need to help restart the program in order to try and get back home.
7. From there, the series would apparently explore this alternate version of the Stargate universe and gradually reveal how this reality differed from the one fans know.

These are merely small revelations and Martin probably had a good idea and plan on how to move forward for it to work for both old fans and new viewers.

Honestly, this show gave Amazon everything they wanted:
Reboot, without being a reboot, and a continuation without being a continuation.
You could say Amazon cancelled out of fear that people would hate it, and that you can't have a show without the Stargate activating in the first episode.
But let's be honest...When hasn't Amazon given us something, knowing that we would hate it, and, yet, still didn't change the trajectory?

Tomorrow Heroes PT II "Full" episode will drop, then next week Atlantis Rising "Full" episode.
And starting today we'll explore the conclusion of the artificial SG-1 team introduced in Tin Man, with the episode Double Jeopardy (s4.e21).

Outside of that, have a good one.

Why do you think the Stargate show was cancelled?
Amazon says it didn't appeal to enough people. It was too loyal and appealing to SG-1 fans. Egad, we can't have that.
Writers/creators said it would appeal everyone. People's response to that - "It's woke! A bastardization of what we hold dear to our hearts."
Who to believe?
I personally believe that they probably wrote a show that would have appealed to more people, but I bet it was too loyal to SG-1 fans and it wasn't...dark.
We are in a big phase of grimdark writing, and I bet they made a show that would have been SG-1/Atlantis vibes. Hopeful, good, and probably episodic.
Amazon probably wanted Expanse-like show that meets the hopelessness of 40K.

No short today, or...I should be back and up tomorrow.
Internet outages followed by my editing software crudding out...what luck. :(

With the recent announcement that Amazon is not going forward with the Stargate revival, out of, according to Amazon, "not being broad enough in appeal."

So, we get to also go back to the drawing board and discus what a Stargate revival would look like. I have my own ideas for a Stargate show, some revivals, others continuations (difference being continuation of one storyline, like Universe, or reviving the SG-1/Atlantis storyline instead).

Do you have your own Stargate story that you wouldn't mind sharing? If so, share it below.

Once the current two Stargate shorts are wrapped up, I will be moving over to one Stargate SG-1 short and one Stargate Atlantis short.

Time for Rodney.

Here's a tough question for the Stargate fans:
Which is the best Stargate SG-1 episode?

Personally, it's a toss up between Bad Guys and Citizen Joe. Window of Opportunity is great, very humorous, and Heroes is Stargate if it wanted to a prestigious TV show. This would be my top four Stargate episodes....until I start rewatching it again, and have to completely re-shift my list again.
But, I am going to give it to Citizen Joe. You don't realize how good it is, until you see it again.
