It’s okay to apply for different jobs or positions on a cruise ship. However, my advice is to focus on one main position where you are strongest. This way, agencies and interviewers will not get confused about your skills and experience.

When you apply for too many different roles, it may look like you are not sure about your career path. But when you apply for the position that matches your real experience, it shows confidence and professionalism.

As long as you have a valid Certificate of Employment (COE) for that position, that is already a big advantage.

Also, make sure that:
• Your resume matches the position you are applying for
• Your skills and training support that role
• You can clearly explain your experience during the interview

Remember, it’s better to be focused and prepared than to apply everywhere without direction.

Choose the position where you can perform best, grow faster, and succeed on board.

📌 Ang SOLAS ay may validity, kaya timing is very important.

💡 Tip:

Restaurant Experience vs Hotel Experience — Which is better for cruise ship jobs? 🚢

I often get asked this question, so let me share my honest take based on experience.

Both restaurant and hotel experience are accepted when applying to cruise ships. What matters most is how relevant your experience is to the position you’re applying for.

👉 Restaurant experience
• Strong advantage for Dining, Bar, and F&B roles
• Fast-paced environment, high volume service
• Great exposure to guest interaction and teamwork

👉 Hotel experience
• Best for Housekeeping, Front Desk, Public Area, and Guest Services
• Focus on standards, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction
• Good training in procedures and professionalism

There is no “better” experience overall — the best experience is the one that matches the job you’re applying for.

I personally started in restaurants before working onboard, and that foundation helped me a lot in cruise ship life.

💡 Tip: Don’t underestimate your background. If you can explain your skills well during the interview, you already have an edge.

If you want a deeper explanation, tips, and real examples, check out my videos — I share everything I’ve learned to help you apply smarter, not harder.

No Age Limit in Cruise Ship Jobs 🚢

There is NO strict age limit when applying for a cruise ship job. I’ve personally seen crew members who are 50 years old and above get hired. As long as you are medically fit, physically capable, and qualified for the position, you still have a chance.

Don’t let age stop you—experience and attitude matter more. 💪

🌊 Tips for First-Time Cruise Ship Applicants 🚢

Applying for your first cruise ship job is exciting! Be prepared: polish your resume, highlight any hospitality or customer service experience, and tailor it to the job you want. Practice your interview skills—confidence and a positive attitude go a long way. Research the cruise line’s culture and dress professionally for interviews. Get your documents in order early (passport, seaman’s book/medical requirements) to avoid delays. Most importantly, stay open-minded, flexible, and ready to learn—working at sea is both challenging and rewarding. Good luck! 🌟
