It was a truly enriching experience to share practical approaches to building analysis and design, advanced tools, and industry practices from our consultancy work—and, more importantly, to learn from the experiences of such a diverse and accomplished group of engineers.
Being one of the youngest in the room, their appreciation, encouragement, and active participation throughout the program meant a lot to me.

In Memoriam: Prof. Graham H. Powell

The structural engineering community has lost one of its greatest minds.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof. Graham H. Powell, a pioneer in earthquake engineering and nonlinear structural analysis. His groundbreaking contributions transformed the way engineers understand, analyze, and design structures to withstand seismic forces.

For generations of engineers, Prof. Powell was more than a researcher—he was a mentor through his books, software developments, and decades of teaching. His work laid the foundation for many of the nonlinear analysis methods and structural engineering tools that are now used worldwide.

His legacy will continue to inspire engineers, researchers, and students for years to come.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the global structural engineering fraternity.

Rest in peace, Prof. Graham H. Powell.
