SERBIAN CHRISTMAS begins with the bonfire

Serbian Christmas falls on January 7th, and what is Epiphany in many countries, is Christmas Eve, Badnji dan, in Serbia.
This is because Serbian Orthodox Christians celebrate their holidays according to the Julian calendar.
Currently, the Julian calendar lags 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar.

While living in Belgrade, we happily celebrated the Christmas twice. We have our habits and traditions, but here I will share some of the customs of the Serbian Christmas.

Finally!!!

Belgrade has already 23 Michelin recommended restaurants, but just got its first actual Michelin star!

Also, one restaurant outside of the capital city got a star, so there are now two Michelin starred restaurants in Serbia on top of those recommendations.

I was wondering why I started getting a huge traffic to this blog post and then realized what’s happening. Michelin inspectors have been to town again!
I had to run to my laptop to update the post.

Christmas in the Japanese Alps:
Onsen bathing in Takayama’s Winter Wonderland

The train from Nagoya arrives at Takayama station with us on board.
Finally.
Not that trains in Japan would ever be late — they definitely aren’t — but certain Western travelers might be.

After spending nine nights in Nagoya, we are slowly heading to the mountains of Takayama to celebrate Christmas in the winter wonderland of Japanese Alps.
