💰 Mulla Nasruddin and the Merchant’s Debt | ملا نصرالدین اور تاجر کا قرض

🇬🇧 English Story

Paragraph 1

One day, a merchant came to Mulla Nasruddin and demanded that Mulla repay an old debt immediately. The merchant insisted that Mulla owed him a large amount of money. Mulla remembered borrowing the money, but he also remembered that he had already returned most of it.

Paragraph 2

The merchant refused to listen and said, "You still owe me everything!" Mulla calmly asked him to bring his account book. When the merchant showed him the records, Mulla carefully looked through the pages and noticed that the merchant had written down the original debt but had forgotten to record several payments Mulla had already made.

Paragraph 3

Mulla smiled and said, "Your book remembers what I borrowed, but it seems to have forgotten what I returned!" The merchant became embarrassed and checked his records again. He soon realized that Mulla was right and that the remaining debt was much smaller than he had claimed.

Paragraph 4

The merchant apologized for his mistake and agreed to accept only the amount Mulla actually owed. Mulla paid the remaining debt and said, "A good account should remember both what was taken and what was given back." The merchant learned an important lesson about honesty and keeping accurate records.

ایک دن ایک تاجر ملا نصرالدین کے پاس آیا اور مطالبہ کیا کہ ملا اس کا پرانا قرض فوراً واپس کریں۔ تاجر کا کہنا تھا کہ ملا پر اس کی بہت بڑی رقم واجب الادا ہے۔ ملا کو یاد تھا کہ انہوں نے کچھ رقم ادھار لی تھی، لیکن انہیں یہ بھی یاد تھا کہ وہ اس کا زیادہ حصہ واپس کر چکے ہیں۔

دوسرا پیراگراف

تاجر نے ملا کی بات ماننے سے انکار کر دیا اور کہا، "تم پر ابھی بھی پوری رقم واجب ہے!" ملا نے سکون سے کہا کہ تاجر اپنا حساب کتاب لے آئے۔ جب تاجر نے اپنی کتاب دکھائی تو ملا نے غور سے صفحات دیکھے۔ ملا نے دیکھا کہ تاجر نے صرف وہ رقم لکھی تھی جو ملا نے ادھار لی تھی، لیکن جو رقم ملا پہلے ہی واپس کر چکے تھے، وہ اس نے حساب میں درج نہیں کی تھی۔

ملا مسکرائے اور بولے، "آپ کی کتاب کو یہ تو یاد ہے کہ میں نے کیا لیا تھا، لیکن شاید یہ بھول گئی ہے کہ میں نے کیا واپس کیا تھا!" تاجر شرمندہ ہوگیا اور اس نے دوبارہ اپنا حساب چیک کیا۔ اسے جلد ہی معلوم ہوگیا کہ ملا بالکل درست کہہ رہے تھے اور اصل قرض اس کی بتائی ہوئی رقم سے بہت کم تھا۔

🇬🇧 English Story

Paragraph 1

One day, Mulla Nasruddin was invited to an important dinner at a wealthy man's house. Mulla arrived wearing his old, simple clothes. When he entered, the servants barely noticed him, and the guests did not pay much attention to him. Mulla quietly sat in a corner and watched everyone.

Paragraph 2

Mulla soon realized that people seemed to respect guests who wore expensive clothes. He went home, put on his finest new coat, and returned to the dinner. This time, the servants welcomed him warmly, and the guests quickly made room for him. Everyone suddenly wanted to talk to him.

ملا نے جلد ہی محسوس کیا کہ لوگ مہنگے کپڑے پہننے والے مہمانوں کو زیادہ عزت دے رہے ہیں۔ وہ گھر واپس گئے، اپنا نیا اور خوبصورت کوٹ پہنا اور دوبارہ دعوت میں پہنچ گئے۔ اس بار خادموں نے ان کا گرمجوشی سے استقبال کیا اور مہمان بھی ان کے ساتھ بات کرنے کے لیے بے چین نظر آئے۔

جب مزیدار کھانا پیش کیا گیا تو ملا نے سب کو حیران کر دیا۔ کھانا کھانے کے بجائے انہوں نے اپنے نئے کوٹ کی آستینیں کھانے میں ڈالنا شروع کر دیں۔ سب لوگ حیران ہو کر پوچھنے لگے، "ملا صاحب! آپ یہ کیا کر رہے ہیں؟" ملا نے سکون سے جواب دیا، "لگتا ہے آپ لوگوں نے مجھے نہیں بلکہ میرے کوٹ کو دعوت دی ہے، اس لیے کھانا بھی میرے کوٹ کو ہی کھانا چاہیے!"
