Just then, a wealthy merchant arrived and claimed that a valuable necklace had disappeared from his shop. He accused one of his workers of taking it, but the worker strongly denied it. The merchant asked Mulla to use the magic mirror to discover the truth. Mulla looked at the mirror carefully and said, “It can reveal the truth, but only if everyone is willing to answer one question honestly.”

Mulla then asked the merchant, “Did you search your own office carefully?” The merchant confidently said yes. Mulla asked the worker the same question, and the worker replied, “No, I was never allowed inside the office.” Mulla smiled and asked the merchant to open a locked drawer in his office. Inside, they found the missing necklace, safely hidden beneath some papers.

Everyone was surprised, and the merchant apologized to his worker. Mulla laughed and said, “The mirror did not find the necklace. Asking the right questions did.” The townspeople understood that Mulla had used the idea of a magic mirror to make everyone think carefully instead of blaming someone too quickly. ایک دوپہر ملا نصرالدین شہر کی منڈی سے گزر رہے تھے کہ انہیں ایک پرانی دکان کے پاس ایک خوبصورت آئینہ پڑا ہوا ملا۔ دکاندار نے بتایا کہ یہ ایک جادوئی آئینہ ہے جو یہ بتا سکتا ہے کہ کوئی شخص سچ بول رہا ہے یا نہیں۔ جلد ہی کئی تجسس کرنے والے لوگ وہاں جمع ہو گئے اور یہ دیکھنے کے لیے بے تاب ہونے لگے کہ آیا آئینے میں واقعی جادوئی طاقت ہے۔

One day, the Sultan gathered the wisest people in his palace and gave them a difficult riddle. He placed a beautiful golden box on the table and said, “Inside this box is something that becomes greater when you give it away, but smaller when you keep it only for yourself. What is it?” The scholars thought for a long time, but none could find the answer.

Mulla Nasruddin was standing at the back of the room and listening quietly. The Sultan noticed him and asked, “Mulla, do you know the answer?” Mulla smiled and said, “Of course, Your Majesty, but I need to demonstrate it.” The Sultan agreed and asked what he needed.

Mulla took a handful of dates from the palace table and gave them to a servant. Then he asked the servant to share them with everyone in the room. Soon, the dates were enjoyed by many people, and everyone smiled. Mulla turned to the Sultan and said, “The answer is kindness. The more you share kindness, the more it spreads. But if you keep it only for yourself, it becomes smaller because nobody else can benefit from it.”

The Sultan was impressed by Mulla’s simple demonstration and declared that the riddle had been solved. He thanked Mulla and said, “You have shown us that a wise answer does not always need complicated words.” Mulla bowed and replied, “Sometimes the best way to solve a difficult question is to show the answer instead of merely explaining it.”

Urdu Story

Urdu Story

One day, Mulla asked the servant to bring a bucket of water from the well. The servant slowly walked toward the well but returned without any water. “Mulla, the bucket is too heavy,” he complained. Mulla looked at him and calmly said, “Then bring the water one cup at a time.” The servant realized that Mulla was not going to accept another excuse.

The next day, the servant tried to avoid cleaning the courtyard by saying that the dust would only come back again. Mulla smiled and handed him a broom. “Then clean it today,” he said, “and tomorrow we will decide what to do about tomorrow’s dust.” The servant had no answer and finally began working.

After a few days, the servant became much more active. He realized that every excuse only made his work harder and delayed everything. Mulla smiled and said, “Work does not become easier by avoiding it. English Story

One morning, Mulla Nasruddin was carrying a large covered basket through the street. His curious neighbor saw him and immediately asked, “Mulla, what is inside that basket?” Mulla smiled and said, “Something very important.” The neighbor became even more curious and followed Mulla, asking question after question.

Finally, the neighbor could not resist and asked again, “At least give me one clue!” Mulla stopped and said, “It is something that becomes smaller the more you take away from it.” The neighbor thought deeply and guessed, “Is it food?” Mulla shook his head. “Is it money?” Mulla shook his head again. The neighbor became more confused than ever.

When they reached Mulla’s house, he carefully opened the basket. Inside were several large pieces of firewood. The neighbor stared at them and asked, “How is that mysterious?” Mulla laughed and replied, “It becomes smaller every time we take a piece away to use as firewood. You were looking for a complicated answer when the truth was very simple!”

The neighbor laughed at himself and thanked Mulla for the lesson. Mulla smiled and said, “Curiosity is useful when it helps us learn, but asking endless questions without thinking can make simple things seem complicated.” From that day on, the neighbor still asked questions, but he learned to think carefully before demanding every answer.

Urdu Story

ایک صبح ملا نصرالدین ایک بڑی ڈھکی ہوئی ٹوکری لے کر گلی سے گزر رہے تھے۔ ان کے تجسس کرنے والے پڑوسی نے فوراً پوچھا، “ملا صاحب! اس ٹوکری میں کیا ہے؟” ملا مسکرائے اور بولے، “ایک بہت اہم چیز ہے۔” پڑوسی کا تجسس اور بڑھ گیا اور وہ ملا کے پیچھے چلتے ہوئے بار بار سوال کرنے لگا۔

آخرکار پڑوسی سے رہا نہ گیا اور اس نے پھر پوچھا، “کم از کم ایک اشارہ تو دے دیں!” ملا رک گئے اور بولے، “یہ ایسی چیز ہے جو جتنا نکالی جائے، اتنی ہی چھوٹی ہوتی جاتی ہے۔” پڑوسی نے بہت سوچا اور کہا، “کیا یہ کھانا ہے؟” ملا نے سر ہلا دیا۔ پھر اس نے پوچھا، “کیا یہ پیسے ہیں؟” ملا نے دوبارہ نفی میں سر ہلا دیا۔ اب پڑوسی پہلے سے بھی زیادہ پریشان ہو گیا۔

جب وہ ملا کے گھر پہنچے تو ملا نے احتیاط سے ٹوکری کھولی۔ اندر لکڑی کے کئی بڑے ٹکڑے تھے۔ پڑوسی انہیں دیکھ کر بولا، “اس میں پراسرار کیا ہے؟” ملا ہنس کر بولے، “جب بھی ہم آگ جلانے کے لیے ایک لکڑی نکالتے ہیں تو یہ ٹوکری چھوٹی ہو جاتی ہے۔ تم ایک مشکل جواب تلاش کر رہے تھے، حالانکہ حقیقت بہت سادہ تھی!”

پڑوسی اپنی جلد بازی پر ہنس پڑا اور ملا کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ ملا مسکرائے اور بولے، “تجسس اس وقت فائدہ مند ہوتا ہے جب وہ ہمیں کچھ سیکھنے میں مدد دے، لیکن بغیر سوچے مسلسل سوال کرنا آسان چیزوں کو بھی مشکل بنا سکتا ہے۔” اس دن کے بعد پڑوسی سوال تو کرتا رہا، لیکن اس نے ہر جواب مانگنے سے پہلے خود غور کرنا سیکھ لیا۔

The two men became impatient and started answering their own questions. Each tried to prove that he was smarter than the other, but soon they became confused by their own arguments. Mulla continued sitting quietly, listening carefully without interrupting. The crowd around them began to notice that the more the men talked, the more mistakes they made.

Finally, one man turned to Mulla and said, “Why are you saying nothing? Surely you have an answer!” Mulla smiled and replied, “I was waiting for both of you to finish proving that you did not need my answer.” Everyone in the square laughed, while the two men realized that their endless talking had made them look less wise, not more.

Mulla then said, “Sometimes silence is wiser than a hundred words. When you listen carefully, you learn more, notice mistakes, and avoid saying something foolish.” The two men thanked Mulla for the lesson and walked away quietly. From that day on, they learned that knowing when to speak—and when to remain silent—is a sign of true wisdom.

Urdu Story

ایک دن ملا نصرالدین شہر کے چوک میں خاموشی سے بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ دو مغرور آدمی ان کے پاس آئے۔ دونوں اس بات پر بحث کر رہے تھے کہ ان میں سے زیادہ عقلمند کون ہے اور چاہتے تھے کہ ملا فیصلہ کریں۔ پہلے آدمی نے ملا سے ایک مشکل سوال پوچھا اور دوسرے نے فوراً اس کے ساتھ ایک اور سوال کر دیا۔ ملا صرف مسکرائے اور خاموش رہے۔

دونوں آدمی بے صبر ہو گئے اور اپنے ہی سوالوں کے جواب دینے لگے۔ ہر ایک دوسرے سے زیادہ ذہین ثابت ہونے کی کوشش کر رہا تھا، لیکن جلد ہی وہ اپنی ہی بحث میں الجھ گئے۔ ملا خاموشی سے بیٹھے ان کی باتیں سنتے رہے اور درمیان میں کوئی مداخلت نہ کی۔ اردگرد موجود لوگوں نے بھی محسوس کیا کہ جتنا وہ دونوں زیادہ بول رہے تھے، اتنی ہی زیادہ غلطیاں کر رہے تھے۔

آخرکار ایک آدمی ملا کی طرف دیکھ کر بولا، “آپ کچھ کہتے کیوں نہیں؟ یقیناً آپ کے پاس کوئی جواب ہوگا!” ملا مسکرائے اور بولے، “میں انتظار کر رہا تھا کہ تم دونوں خود ہی یہ ثابت کر دو کہ تمہیں میرے جواب کی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔” چوک میں موجود سب لوگ ہنس پڑے، جبکہ دونوں آدمیوں کو احساس ہوا کہ بہت زیادہ بحث کرنے سے وہ عقلمند کے بجائے کم سمجھ دار دکھائی دے رہے تھے۔

ملا نے پھر کہا، “کبھی کبھی خاموشی سو الفاظ سے زیادہ سمجھ دار ہوتی ہے۔ جب تم غور سے سنتے ہو تو زیادہ سیکھتے ہو، دوسروں کی غلطیاں دیکھتے ہو اور کوئی بے وقوفی کی بات کہنے سے بچ جاتے ہو۔” دونوں آدمیوں نے ملا کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور خاموشی سے وہاں سے چلے گئے۔ اس دن کے بعد انہوں نے سیکھ لیا کہ کب بولنا ہے اور کب خاموش رہنا ہے، یہ جاننا ہی حقیقی دانائی کی نشانی ہے۔

Moral: True wisdom is knowing when to speak and when silence is the better answer.

Come alone, and bring your wisdom.” Mulla scratched his beard and wondered who could have sent such a mysterious letter.

All day, Mulla tried to guess the sender. He asked a few neighbors if they knew anything, but nobody had seen the letter before. Instead of becoming frightened, Mulla decided to follow the instructions carefully. Just before sunset, he walked toward the old fountain and noticed a nervous young man waiting there.

The young man explained that he had secretly written the letter because he needed Mulla’s help. His father had lost an important family document, and everyone in the house was blaming one another. Mulla asked a few simple questions and discovered that the document had been placed inside an old book for safekeeping, but nobody remembered putting it there. He checked the books nearby and soon found the missing document.

The young man thanked Mulla and admitted that the mysterious letter had been meant to make the situation feel more important than it really was. Mulla laughed and said, “A strange message may catch your attention, but simple questions often uncover the truth.” From that day on, the young man learned that when a problem seems mysterious, the best first step is to stay calm, ask questions, and look carefully at the facts.

ایک صبح ملا نصرالدین نے اپنے گھر کے باہر ایک بند خط پڑا ہوا دیکھا۔ لفافے پر کسی کا نام نہیں تھا، صرف سیاہ روشنائی سے ایک عجیب سا نشان بنا ہوا تھا۔ ملا نے تجسس کے ساتھ خط کھولا اور اس میں ایک مختصر پیغام پڑھا، “غروبِ آفتاب سے پہلے پرانے چشمے کے پاس مجھ سے ملو۔ اکیلے آنا اور اپنی دانائی ساتھ لانا۔” ملا نے اپنی داڑھی پر ہاتھ پھیرا اور سوچنے لگے کہ یہ پراسرار خط کس نے بھیجا ہے۔

پورا دن ملا اس خط کے بھیجنے والے کے بارے میں سوچتے رہے۔ انہوں نے چند پڑوسیوں سے بھی پوچھا، لیکن کسی کو اس خط کے بارے میں کچھ معلوم نہیں تھا۔ ڈرنے کے بجائے ملا نے فیصلہ کیا کہ وہ پیغام کے مطابق وہاں جائیں گے۔ سورج غروب ہونے سے کچھ دیر پہلے وہ پرانے چشمے کے پاس پہنچے جہاں ایک پریشان سا نوجوان ان کا انتظار کر رہا تھا۔

نوجوان نے بتایا کہ اس نے جان بوجھ کر پراسرار خط لکھا تھا کیونکہ اسے ملا کی مدد چاہیے تھی۔ اس کے والد کی ایک اہم خاندانی دستاویز گم ہو گئی تھی اور گھر کے سب لوگ ایک دوسرے کو ذمہ دار ٹھہرا رہے تھے۔ ملا نے چند آسان سوالات پوچھے اور معلوم کیا کہ دستاویز حفاظت کے لیے ایک پرانی کتاب میں رکھی گئی تھی، لیکن کسی کو یاد نہیں تھا کہ اسے وہاں کس نے رکھا تھا۔ ملا نے قریب رکھی کتابیں دیکھیں اور جلد ہی گم شدہ دستاویز تلاش کر لی۔

Mulla Nasruddin and the Borrowed Cauldron

One day, Mulla Nasruddin needed a large cauldron to cook food for his guests. 🍲 He went to his neighbor and politely asked to borrow one. The neighbor happily lent it to him. The next day, Mulla returned the cauldron along with a small pot. When the neighbor asked about it, Mulla smiled and said, “Your cauldron had a baby!” 😄

The neighbor was delighted and happily accepted the small pot. A few days later, Mulla returned and asked to borrow the same cauldron again. The greedy neighbor quickly gave it to him, hoping that it might have another baby. 😂 This time, however, Mulla did not return the cauldron.

After several days, the neighbor became impatient and went to Mulla’s house. “Where is my cauldron?” he asked angrily. Mulla looked sad and replied, “I am very sorry. Your cauldron has died.” 😔 The neighbor shouted, “How can a cauldron die? That is impossible!”

Mulla calmly smiled and said, “If you believed that a cauldron could give birth to a baby, why is it so difficult to believe that it could die?” 😄 The neighbor suddenly understood the trick. He had allowed his greed to make him believe something impossible, and now he had lost his cauldron because of it.

Moral

Greed can make people believe things that make no sense. Always think carefully and do not let greed control your decisions. 🌟


ملا نصرالدین اور ادھار کی دیگچی

ایک دن ملا نصرالدین کو اپنے مہمانوں کے لیے کھانا پکانے کے لیے ایک بڑی دیگچی کی ضرورت پڑی۔ 🍲 وہ اپنے پڑوسی کے پاس گئے اور دیگچی ادھار مانگی۔ پڑوسی نے خوشی سے دیگچی دے دی۔ اگلے دن ملا دیگچی کے ساتھ ایک چھوٹی دیگچی بھی واپس لائے۔ پڑوسی نے حیرت سے پوچھا تو ملا مسکرا کر بولے، “آپ کی دیگچی نے ایک بچہ پیدا کیا ہے!” 😄

پڑوسی یہ سن کر بہت خوش ہوا اور چھوٹی دیگچی بھی رکھ لی۔ کچھ دن بعد ملا دوبارہ آئے اور وہی بڑی دیگچی مانگ لی۔ لالچی پڑوسی نے فوراً دیگچی دے دی، اس امید پر کہ شاید یہ دوبارہ ایک چھوٹی دیگچی پیدا کرے گی۔ 😂 لیکن اس بار ملا نے دیگچی واپس نہیں کی۔

کئی دن گزرنے کے بعد پڑوسی بے صبر ہو گیا اور ملا کے گھر پہنچا۔ اس نے غصے سے پوچھا، “میری دیگچی کہاں ہے؟” ملا نے افسوس سے کہا، “مجھے بہت افسوس ہے، آپ کی دیگچی مر گئی ہے۔” 😔 پڑوسی غصے سے بولا، “دیگچی بھی کبھی مرتی ہے؟ یہ کیسے ممکن ہے؟”

ملا اطمینان سے مسکرائے اور بولے، “اگر آپ یہ مان سکتے ہیں کہ دیگچی بچہ پیدا کر سکتی ہے، تو پھر یہ ماننے میں کیا مشکل ہے کہ وہ مر بھی سکتی ہے؟” 😄 پڑوسی کو فوراً اپنی غلطی سمجھ آگئی۔ اس نے لالچ میں آ کر ایک ناممکن بات پر یقین کیا تھا اور اسی لالچ کی وجہ سے اپنی دیگچی بھی کھو دی۔

سبق

لالچ انسان کو ایسی باتوں پر یقین کرنے پر مجبور کر سکتا ہے جو عقل کے خلاف ہوں۔ ہمیشہ سوچ سمجھ کر فیصلہ کریں اور لالچ کو اپنے فیصلوں پر حاوی نہ ہونے دیں۔ 🌟
