Making our dream of being a Saturday morning cartoon come to life on YouTube! Sorry for the humongous gaps between episodes, we're doing what we can! See you Saturday 💜
A few smear frames from Magical Cat! These frames are never intended to be seen for more than 1/24th of a second! They help with quick transitions between shapes.
We’ve been asked about the inspiration behind Magical Cat, so here they are! Meet Phoebe, Joey, and the Fuzz (rip💕). The Fuzz was the initial inspiration and you can see his minty green eyes reflected in Magical Cat. Phoebe has the zoomies, and Joey is probably best represented in the upcoming NEW episode! See you then!
The very first Magical Cat prototype and the animation setup from 2020! We're working on our behind the scenes content and wanted to share these images that we captured prior to shooting the very first episode. We like to make clay "sketches" of our characters before moving on to make the real thing. It informs us of any issues that a drawing of the characters might miss - size issues, weight, anatomy, limitations, etc. We shot the first Magical Cat short in a very small 1 car garage in Burbank, CA!
If you want to know more, just stick around and you'll catch us posting "Magical Breakdown" videos soon!
Thanks for taking the time to vote on our poll! The results have suggested that we should stick with Magical Cat and make an effort to create some behind the scenes content. So we will! We now plan to do breakdown videos of each episode which will include us explaining things like the ideas, the art, designs, technical challenges, and the animation itself. Thanks for sticking with us and have a good weekend!
We’re reaching out to see if there’s any kind of content you’d like to see from us aside from Magical Cat episodes. Are you curious about how we make Magical Cat? Would you like general stop motion tutorials? Do you want to see new creations? Let us know, we’re doing this for you 🙂
We’re back at it with Magical Cat after a busy year of client work. We dove back into our old project files and made some visual improvements and are re-releasing the episodes as shorts. We’re hoping to gain some momentum as we work on new episodes! You may have also noticed that we’ve been gently pushing our Kofi page, which is where you can donate to help us continue producing this entirely self-funded project. Anyways, we just wanted to check in and say hi to all of our friends, old and new! Stay tuned for more Magical Cat! ❤️
We want to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting our work. We really enjoy reading all of your lovely comments and interacting with you. For a tiny business like us trying to find our footing, it means the world that our personal work is making you smile. It encourages us and lets us know that we're on the right track! We're going to continue releasing more Magical Cat episodes because we love making it as much as you love watching! It's a project that reminds us why we love creating animation.
Here's some images of the birth of Magical Cat - setting up for the very first episode back in 2020 when we were working out of a tiny, hot, 1 car garage in Los Angeles!
