Fancy joining me on for a Day of Brown hare photography in 2025?

I will once again be running a select number of workshop days over on Havergate Island next year and you could join me! We will head out to this little gem of a nature reserve for a day's wildlife photography workshop, where will look for the resident hares and try our best to get you in some great positions for images! Of course I'll be on hand all day to answer any of you're wildlife photography questions and if last years anything to go by, you'll be joined by a small group of likeminded wildlife photographers who all want to soak up an incredible spot and make some pictures!

Havergate is a stunning location that's rarely visited by the general public and so we will have an fantastic opportunity to explore the reserve and with a little luck get some cracking opportunities to photograph one of my favourite subjects, the Brown hare! The reserve also plays host to a load of other wildlife we could also catch up with as well as just being a unique location in the UK to explore.

Hey Guys!
It's a busy time for me at the moment prepping for a rather exciting trip, editing some new videos, as well as working on some events! I'll be giving a lecture next week at Wex Photo Video in Putney on Thursday (book tickets here events.wexphotovideo.com/in-conversation-with-tom-…) before a weekend at the Birdfair in Rutland where I'll be speaking for ‪@NikonEurope‬.
Would love to see some of you guys at the show/talk if you are around!

I also recently announced my return to Botswana where I'll be running an awesome workshop in conjunction with Wildfoot travel, heading back to Chobe and the Okavango. Hey guys, so yesterday the Nikon Z6 III got released! and what a camera it looks to be for the middle tier bracket!

I should be getting hold of one ASAP for some of my own testing ( As I think it's going to be ace for lowlight and high ISO work, as well as for some of the filming application I work on ) but it would be awesome to hear what you guys think, and what you want to see me test out on this new model!?

Is there any subjects you'd specifically be interested to see me try it out on or features you'd like to hear about. Maybe compare it against the Z9/Z8 for wildlife photography?

Do you think it's one you'll be adding to the bag?
I'd love to know you're thoughts!

Hey Guys how's it going!
I've been busy editing away on some new videos, but have been rather distracted by a number of Short-eared Owl locations that have been working rather nicely! Hopefully I can get a nice few images before the seasons is out as it looks like it's going to be a fantastic year for these beauties! Have you seen any near you?

Whilst I was out It's been great to bump into a few of my subscribers here on YouTube and if you ever do see me feel free to say hello, I do love chatting wildlife photography! Although I might suddenly drop mid convo if that epic shot opportunity comes up...

Having a few chats whilst I've been out lots of people have been interested in the Nikon 600mm Z TC and the options for picking up a longer telephoto (Handy for the owls), and for many who obviously don't have the budget for the newest gear I've been sharing what a great time it is to buy secondhand! So many great tele lenses are coming up right now at prices thousands of pounds cheaper than even a year or so back!

Faster aperture primes like the nikon 500 f4 FL for £4000 tidd.ly/3TblRqi
or something like the 200-400 f4 VR II for £1250 is a crazy bargain! tidd.ly/3Rkbi35
Yes these lenses are a little older and bigger than some of the newer options, but the mixture of fast aperture, telephoto reach and ability to use them with TC's makes them awesome options for wildlife photographers on more of a budget. I'd certainly pick one of these lenses over some of the newer slower aperture gear any day of the week!

All the shots were made with my Nikon Z9 + 600mm Z TC on my Gitzo Systematic with the Fluid Gimbal, perfect for those long hours standing around waiting for the action!

How are we all?
I've just got back from a little trip out to Canada...More on that later on in the year but it was quite a good trip to a location I've been rather keen to visit for a long time!

I just wanted to create a post to ask you guys what more you would like to see from this channel in 2024? Obviously more uploads... but do you have any specific wish list topics?

I am thinking about some budget gear videos if thats something you'd like to see?

Talking about budget (in a loose term) if you are currently on the lookout for a new super telephoto or have always wanted to invest in one, right now if an awesome time, loads of top class primes coming up at excellent prices on the used market, from 300mm 2.8 - 600 f4, I spotted this 500mm F4 E today and can't quite believe some of the bargains that are on offer! tidd.ly/3ug6lzj

Are you looking into upgrading? What about a video on choosing a telephoto? Is that something you guys would love to see?
