Hi there, thank you for visiting me on my channel. I’m MV.ARTZ

The most important thing for me in our line of work is storytelling.

Most of the time I do work as a motion designer. Besides that, I like to share all the great stuff I picked up for video/filmmaking.
Expressing ideas and stories in a 3d environment is where I feel most comfortable at. In my work, I like to incorporate techniques borrowed from artists in different fields, such as comic book artists, film directors, or actors. When it comes to animation I like to look at the underlying principles and explain those, so it becomes software independently. I mostly use Blender and AE to explain these principles.

I truly enjoyed this video, its quality content, and its astunning end result.

Seeing how a relatively simple scene - as in a seal, a fish, and some environmental assets - can capture a moment that feels like it's straight out of a story, is what is so inspirational to me. There is intention in the posing. Dynamics and speed in the composition, while preserving a readable and clean image.

You might find this informative and/or reaffirmation too. I know I did.

I came up with the idea of a nobility portrait of an alpaca back in 2021.

It was prompted by one of the days of sculpt January 21.
For multiple reasons, this ended up on the pile of unfinished ideas.

Then, recently, I got inspired to dust off this project. I started with a new sculpt for the alpaca, and from there, it was pretty straightforward.

A simple room becomes quite interesting if you populate it with enough convincing models. Normally I would've wanted to model all those props myself, but lately, I've embraced the idea of kitbashing. Maybe because at my new job, we're relying on it so much that I feel it's justified.

First, that felt sort of like cheating to me. Also I really enjoyed creating all the models. But usually, I felt unsatisfied by the outcome, because I'd burnt out before I got to the result I envisioned.

Using assets frankly enabled me -more than my younger self would've liked to admit- to focus on the pieces of the 'artwork' that I wanted to spend time on.
I took my time on the character model, the hair system, the lighting, and art direction. Take that last one with a grain of salt. However, I did feel more free to explore what props work and don't work in the scene.
Be honest, who throws out a piece that they've modeled after it turns out it isn't the best fit for the scene? Well, I wouldn't. All those hours down the drain, man🤦🏻‍♂️You crazy!?😵‍💫

After almost 10 years of using blender I found the sun and sky addon, which lets you put in the numbers of any given date, time and place and it we'll recreate that lighting scenario. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but knowing that this was lighting that resembles the lighting on the 7th of October 1324, Château de Chambord makes it a little more special to me. Even if I'm the only one to know, well and now you do too.
The add-on is called sun position and it ships with Blender, sure didn't know that myself.

I'm creating a collage of framed artworks of myself in my study/workspace at home.
I'm proud, sue me okay!😁

I feel this deserves a spot on the wall, do you agree?🤞🏻😁

Okay, I need your help friends! (All the help would be immensely appreciated🙌🏻)

Blender keeps crashing when I'm rendering animations. And I'm tired of staying alert and restarting Blender and rendering till the animation is rendered.

I've checked multiple things to troubleshoot this consistent crashing in Blender when rendering my animations.
- My drivers are up to date
- CPU is not overheating
- GPU is not overheating
- VRAM is sufficient
- RAM is sufficient
- Windows is Up to date
- I deleted multiple addons that were marked with a warning.
- Blender is up to date (Blender 4.0, 3.6, and 3.4 all had the same problem for me)
- This happens both with and without experimental features on
- Both Cycles and EEVEE have this problem, but a viewport preview render could easily finish 3500 frames without failing
- It is not a specific frame causing this, and not every so many frames either. It is completely random it seems
- My Blender_debug_output.txt: drive.google.com/file/d/18FzdUCQFtNgviCtCF5L9Zufti…
- I don't have a lot of other applications open.
- RTX 2070, Ryzen 5 3600x
