I Visited the Fort called Jesus, It Was Truly A Humbling Experience 😶!
I was seeking for What to Do and Where to Go When Visiting Mombasa.
I have always wanted to visit this great Coastal town and see the marvels it holds. A quick Google search recommended a visit to the Great Fort called #Jesus .
I first learnt of this magnificent piece of history a few decades ago whilst at the great Olympic Primary.
I remember the brief lesson about the man, that history records as the great explorer, the conqueror of the seas, the great knight and military general, Vasco Da Gama, as the first sapien of European descent to land on the infamous Kenya coast line.
Landing first at Manbasa and then proceeding Northwards to Malindi, the great explorer began setting the basic foundations and structures necessary for the building of this great Fort to protect the vast interest of the brotherhood at that time.
The pillars erected can still be seen to this very day. The one in Mombasa and the famous Vasco da Gama pillar in Malindi.
As a world UNESCO heritage site, and rightfully so, the Fort called Jesus brims of an eloquent powerful history that has shaped the history of the land called Kenya.
Towering at the shores of Mombasa formerly Manbasa aka Mvita, the fort has played many functions for the myriad of rulers and powers that have influenced the Kenyan coastal town over the years and its walls are a testament to this canonical fact.
A lot can be said about the Fort called Jesus, but one thing that I want to point out is the energy levels that you get to feel while you take a tour around this great piece of history.
The silence as you walk along its corridors and down its archways are louder than an ancient steel factory in production.
The monuments erected speaks of a hidden past that most are yet to decode and fathom, a past visible only to those with eyes that can see 🙈, a present for those with the ears that listen 🙉, and a future only for those who can speak the same to existence 🙊.
This is my journey. This is my story, the story of a Fort called Jesus.

The hills have a lot to teach. Where I hail from, hills are revered as sacred places of worship. A place where the gods reside.
This was one of those humbling experiences.
I took this journey on a quest to cleanse my soul. This was a mission to build trust in the self.
It was one of those moments where I had to do what I said I would do to overcome this self.
As someone who knows what it means to fight the devil, this was a sol searching mission to get back to heaven, the place where my heart resides.
I am glad I had the strength to do what I said I would achieve, all thanks to the great I AM.
His humble servant took the journey East. As most ancients did. To conquer the self NOT the hill.
To those struggling with self doubt, and a chaotic mind, this one is for you, you will be okay.
I love you.
